Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! Cape Town

I went to a conference in Cape Town International Conference Centre; it takes less than 10 minutes in a taxi (2 km). The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, clean and with beautiful views of Table Mountain. I must admit that only went to the hotel to sleep so I can not evaluate the other services like restaurant or swimming pool.

It is a very nice hotel, with a modern theme-design (fire & ice), what can be noticed in almost every detail. The hotel was clean and the staff very friendly. The rooms are well equiped. The hotel is located nor far from city center (short drive or longer walk)

The room itself was not so bad....a very strange set up (when you walk in, you are in the bathroom) but I believe that the layouts for many rooms are different. However, the restaurant was horrible. When my family and I went there for dinner, we waited an hour for any of our food to arrive, and when it did, it was all overcooked! The manager offered us the buffet instead which I ate simply because I was too hungry to wait for them to ruin another meal for me....but he didn't even bother to take any of the meals off of the bill. Terrible management, if you ask me. The next night, I ordered room service and again...horrible. Tasteless...flavorless. It's amazing how much service like this can effect your stay. I was not pleased.

I loved this hotel. The staff is really friendly. The elevators are fun (one is like a shark cage and tells you to keep your limbs inside!). There were also several computers for guest use (free). The breakfast was plentiful and tasty - and the breakfast room has an enormous aquarium on one side so the fish could see you eating breakfast and vice versa. I had a splendid view of Table Mountain from my room and my room was very nice and very clean. Coffee and tea were available in the room, and at reception there was cold juice all the time - a nice touch. For me the location was excellent since I was interested in seeing museums, exploring the center of Cape Town, etc. - all of this was in very easy walking distance. The waterfront area was about a 20 minute walk. I would certainly highly recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

No personality. What looks like a neat and different decore in the pictures is really just a buch of trash they threw together weather it went together or not. Old garage sale second hand trash. The place was hard to find published address wasn't in the car rental GPS. No signs, people sitting on the curb all around the building at night when I arrived didn't know if I wanted to stop or not. Parking is difficult to find and attendants are slow assisting. Elevator was out all day Saturday had to use the stairs. Not worth the price!! Hotel is not not that close to anything.. There are alot better choices!! Stay by the Waterfront.

They all show the spirit to try and make everything possible.

Loved this hotel and would definitely stay again. It's quirky but in a nice way. The rooms are clean and comfortable but fairly small, but don't let this put you off. Really helpful staff. Great food.

Wonderful service. Wouljd go back any time. Highly recommended.
