Stroll to the local bar or head into Borrisokane, just 4.5 miles away, for shops and places to eat, including a friendly pub/restaurant with live music. Terryglass is under 6 miles from the property, and from Portumna (12.5 miles), you can stroll the trails of the 1,000-acre forest park, hire a bike, go wild swimming, play golf or visit the 17th-century castle with potager garden. Lovers of history will also want to visit Birr Castle and Nenagh Castle, both within 18 miles, while water-based activities, including boat trips, fishing and kayaking, are to be had on Lough Derg, less than 4 miles away. You’ll also want to lace up your walking boots and head out on the Lough Derg Way, passing along riverbanks, canals, forests and old roadways. Beautiful Killaloe is 25 miles away.
