Good size room, but furthest one away from bar \ restaurant. It was an accessible room which wasn't what i booked, but it was very quiet after some patrons going out to back for late smokes. Got a warm welcome when checking in, & there were good drink options, although surprised at how early the bar closed. Breakfast was excellent & well presened. Would recommend friends & family to stay there if cisiting the area. Only disappointing thing was the room rate was reduced by £10 the day after we booked, and although it said free cancellation up to 24 hours before, but when i tried it said I would lose all money if cancelled.

We stayed for a couple of nights, having breakfast & dinner twice. After a rather brusque check-in with a middle aged Asian gentleman (the owner?), we made our way to Room 10, a king sized room with an additional bed in a side room. As we had our Jack Russell with us, this may be a pet-friendly room. The bedroom was beautifully clean, and the beds comfortable. I think the bathroom had not long been fitted, and had a fabulous shower along with all the complimentary soaps/showergels/shampoos that have disappeared from so many hotels these days. A thoughtful touch was the battery night light that came on at night, saving us from being blinded by the brightness of the usual bathroom lighting. The only thing that marred our sleep was the noisiness of some pump or other that kept going on and off all the time. We eventually got used to the noise so didn’t ask to change rooms. The pièce de résistance of our stay though was the restaurant staff, especially Stephen & Shubham, who went out of their way to be pleasant and helpful. The food was excellent. Unusually, the pub offered a short Indian food menu, alongside the usual pub grub. On our first night we chose that, and were very happy with the dishes we chose. On Sundays, the Blue Boar offers an all day Sunday Roast, right up until 8pm, so after being out all day it was a pleasure to have that to look forward to. Both days we chose to have a “Full English” breakfast, but cereal and yoghurt was available too. We recommend it!

Very disappointing. A lovely character property but a dire stay. Upon arrival we were told unapologetically that the boiler wasnt working and were unable to have a hot shower. Our evening meal was quite pleasant but service was very slow. Breakfast was dreadful with an apple being the only fruit offering. No apologies upon leaving summed up the attitude of the staff

This was the second time to visit The Blue Boar. They had a problem beyond their control in that the boiler broke so we had three dsys with no hot water . The rest of our stay was great . Steve front of house manager was great and keeps things running like clockwork. Lucas the barman is an asset to the establishment what an absolutely nice person . We were wonderfully greated by Roxy a waitress who remembered us from our previous stay . All in all a great three day's and I'm sure in time we will return .

Nice country pub/restaurant with rooms. Rooms are comfy the bathroom is modern the rooms quaint. Onsite parking and car charging for those with EVs. Food is good evening menu variety was an eclectic menu of À la carte, Indian food and pub classics. A new one in my experience. Breakfast was ok. Would stay again when back in the area.

We didn't get the room we paid for as it wasn't useable and the hotel had no other available.
This is classed as an ironing board!
This was the smallest TV for a supposed King room. Not sure what King was describing as it certainly was the bed as that was only a double.

My stay was very good. Service, pricing, cleanliness excellent. There was a rumbling noise all night (room 8) in the adjacent wall (room 10) I asked the Mngr. He looked into it but it did not stop. Fortunately it was in the other room and I could close the door to sleep. The bed was very comfortable. Great stay. I will return.

The room was quiet and spotlessly clean, and had all the necessary amenities . Parking was easy and plentiful. The food at dinner and breakfast was hot, tasy and cooked-to-order. The only downside was the mattress which was obviously well worn and caused me to roll to the edge of the bed. To his credit the manager/ receptionist was shocked when I told him and said he would report it immediately. If guests don't report it, then management can't be blamed as it isnt visible when making up the bed.

i booked a deluxe king room, the room was very spacious although no window which made me feel a bit anxious, 2 skylight windows in roof, would of been nicer to have a couch or couple of comfortable chairs to relax on rather than having to sit on the bed, only a small area for hanging clothes and no drawers for items like tshirts and underwear..the mattress was springs so where others have sat it didnt make the best to sleep on! ..a big plant in the corner of the room took up a lot of space and in need of a good dust! ..there was an ironing board and iron and the bathroom was lovely with complimentaryshower gel soap and body cream..so much potential for the room..but overall ok. breakfast was ok, first day i had a cooked breakfast, it wasnt hot, just warm so a bit disappointing, 2nd day there was only us and another couple for breakfast and there was nothing out to help yourself to, cereal, yoghurt, coffee etc, so felt a bit restricted in choice. overall a lovely pub, staff lovely good parking and lots of history to it.
lovely large room
unnecessary plant taking up room for a nice couch

This place is excellent and very well appointed for its moderately low price. The room was spacious and clean and the restaurant was very good. It served my needs for a stopover in the area BUT BUT BUT There is a kitchen fan which was on all night and made a TERRIBLE HUMMING NOISE. I asked about this and the owner seemed to say no-one had mentioned it before but looking at reviews I see they have. This was only solved by me sleeping in a small bed on the corridor side. This must be fixed please.

Lovely feeling in the inn and room, nicely decorated and first impression was of how inviting it looked, but this changed somewhat when we spent more time in the room. The lack of curtains and ill fitting blinds meant we were woken up with the direct sunlight every morning which really impacted our stay. There were also numerous stains on the furniture and carpets, which while I’m sure they were cleaned were very visible. The significant limescale build up on the shower head made the shower unappealing, while functional. The people and service were lovely though!

Nice pub but the rooms need a bit of work. The blinds are terrible so you are kept awake by the outside lights and then woken up by the sun in the morning. The mattress was also terrible. Nice breakfast and the pub is lovely.

We generally had a good stay at The Blue Boar. It is an attractive building in a lovely, quiet location. The room was clean and good and the food in the evening was well cooked. Breakfast was a bit limited, with no fresh fruits, but was otherwise OK. Our only criticism was that our ( premier!!) room was above the kitchen and we were a bit disturbed by two loud humming noises from there overnight, one of which was constant and the other intermittent. Other rooms, in different places, probably wouldn't have been affected.
