We had an amazing Christmas at the Hatchet.
Christmas Eve food was great and local musicians provided excellent entertainment which everyone in the pub joned in with. A fantastic atmosphere.
The hotel rooms were warm and comfortable.
Although we had one minor glich with our room, it was dealt with quickly and professionally.
Thank you Gerry.
We will certainly be staying at The Hatchet next time we are visiting Wiltshire.
Very charming. We had a lovely dinner in front of a crackling log fire. My partnerâs onion soup was the best heâd ever tasted, even better than fancy restaurants in Paris! The bedroom was set apart from the main building so it was nice and quiet and we slept well. We got up early for winter solstice sunrise at Stonehenge intending to be back in time for breakfast, however we were a little late back, but the owner was very accommodating and made sure we still got fed. We would happily stay there again!
An overnight stay, we had a cosy meal with log fire and traditional pub food. The family bedroom was tired, filled with cobwebs, dust and filthy carpet. It is a shame as the thatched pub is very unique.
The room was clean enough, but not spotless. A mark on the sheet, cobwebs etc, but all hygienic. The room smelt slightly damp.
With that out of the way, the service was friendly, the room was a good size and bed comfortable, shower excellent. It was all adjoined to a lovely village pub in a great location.
Pleasant & quiet. Comfy bed, good shower.
Shame no fresh milk nor anyone to ask for any in the morning. No one to hand over key to.
Simple no cost things like removing ugly signs from room would improve it.
This was our 2nd stay here as not much else in the area though this time they had not linked us together & blamed hotels.com even though they did remember us from last year. Rooms & bathrooms are not clean & I had to wrestle with a massive wolf spider in my room this year, whereas last year were lots of cellar spiders! Lots of cobwebs to get rid of above the bed which wasnât even comfortable, noted that some bathrooms have been refurbed now though if theyâre not kept clean they wonât last. Food is to a good standard with a varied menu, though we will not stay next year now.
Room was covered in cobwebs.dead flies on the windowsills.lightbulb missing in wall light.tired worn carpet.old mould stains in shower.friendly staff in pub.evening meal in the pub was nice.
The rooms are perfectly imperfect in my opinion, lovely place to stay, rooms are more homely than a like for like hotel. Bear in mind the surroundings that contribute to the impossible task of keeping these rooms 100% spotless.
Wonderful place would definitely visit again.
This is a wonderful thatched roof hotel, so old and quaint. Beds were super comfortable, room clean if a bit dated. The pub was wonderful, food was great. Highly recommend for authentic english experience.
The Hat het is a loverly picturesque pub/ hotel. Welcome excellent, food and ambiance perfect. VFM good. The thing that let it down was cleanliness of the room- smeared bathroom mirror looked like it was cleaned with a soiled cloth ( had to clean it to see any reflection!) the toilet rim covered in hair & dust & the lamp shades & corners of the room rife with cobwebs.
We did enjoy our stay however and we did report the room dissatisfaction to the young service lady but no apology or explanation from the landlord?
Dogs welcome on a lead in bar & rooms.
