Our family of 4 plus dog really enjoyed our stay. The proximity of the home to so many locations allowed us to have a busy week of exploring Asheville, the national forest, waterfalls, the Arboretum, the Biltmore, and a day trip to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, while still having time to relax and try many of the great local restaurants within 15 minutes.
The home was immaculately clean and we all enjoyed the comfort of the beds. We appreciated the bath soap, hand soap, dish soap/detergent, and other small amenities provided, and were very near a grocery store for anything else we might have needed.
I only dock a star because the word "private" is used 12 times in the listing, and while the home is definitely tucked into a very quiet corner backing up to the national forest, I expected a little more privacy based on that. This home is sandwiched between two other houses, with a water treatment facility just across the street. While enjoying the backyard, don't be surprised to hear neighborhood yard work, neighbors walking through the forest paths (we saw a very cute preschool/daycare field trip heading out for a walk), and I heard the ice cream truck one evening. This did not detract from our enjoyment of the property, but I do want to share in case others, like me, read the listing and expect a little bit more seclusion.
We never got to use the fire pit or grill/outdoor dining table due to persistent rain showers and thunderstorms in the evening throughout the week, but there was a starter supply of wood. We did see a black bear 3 times in the woods so be wildlife aware while exploring the trails and creek behind the house!
