The setting of the home was lovely. We really enjoyed the covered porch. It was our favorite place to hang out. We loved the ample space to lounge and read. The kitchen was furnished just enough, and I loved the use of space. We also appreciated that NewsMax was available on the Roku, that way we could stay up-to-date on current events before our days of adventure. One of the adventures that we took-in during our vacation was to picnic and hike trails around Lake Powhatan. Our dogs loved it and the trails are family and bike-friendly. On our drive leaving Azalea Road Dog Park we got to see a black bear in town limits, so be on the lookout and stay in your vehicle. While in the area, we drove up to the Billy Graham Training Center at the Cove and toured around the Chatlos Memorial Chapel. Highly recommend driving the mountains through Omni Grove Park Inn. *Breathtakingly Beautiful*
Sadly though, a lot has changed in the Downtown and River Arts section since the last time we vacationed in Asheville 2 decades ago. This is no reflection on our accommodations or the hosts, but I think it is worth mentioning to those that are looking to tour around those areas to be mindful of their surroundings. There are needle disposals conveniently placed and make-shift safe-stations for addicts. The nearby Family Dollar store is very questionable. But as far as places to dine, the Sunny Point Cafe gets a 5-star as well as Early Girl Eatery a little further down Haywood Road.
