While the view was spectacular, the cottage was NOT very clean. The pool was a blow up (nothing like the picture), the 6th bedroom showing futon, is in the garage with no windows or air movement. You do share this with another cottage (that was not disclosed). The stairs to the beach are rather shaky. While dissappointed in some aspects, we worked around them and had a nice time.
Our stay was ok. Atyhe, as a host lacks integrity. The place does NOT have many of the popular amenities it advertises; most notably a pool and a working hot tub. The BBQ's grill is made up of 4 grills that do not match its size. Upon arrival the place was dusty and the fans within each room seem to not have been cleaned for at least 6-8 months. The toilets were still dirty and had hair from previous occupants. There are only 3 bedrooms. There is an extension she calls a bedroom (4th), which in fact is an addition with a sunroom, without air conditioning. The 5th room is NOT a bedroom. It's simply a loft space with no ventilation that has 5 twin size beds and an extra mattress under one of the beds. The 6th room was locked, hence no way of providing feedback on it. The staircase to the beach is truly "at your own risk" experience, as it looks like it was built by individuals without an idea on structural integrity. The only plus is the location that has a nice view of the sunset at Lake Huron. Many pig farms in the vicinity which make the outdoor air not so fresh. The worst part of all is to know that the host is a Real Estate agent in the GTA area that clearly misrepresents herself in order to make a quick buck. When we inquired about the pool, she mentioned that the previous occupants broke it, hence its removal (see screenshots of conversations). Yet, she continues to advertise a pooI on site, she has never had. I do NOT recommend this place. The host is a fraud artist.
The property was lovely and the location was great. Atye was a responsive host and lovely person. The sunsets by the campfire were amazing and the kids enjoyed the beach despite the long climb up and down. Things that would have made a difference in choosing this property:1 6 bedrooms was actually 3 - the room with the king bed was a sunroom, with skylights and patio doors and French doors to the living area with no curtains and no AC vent. It was a lovely room and view but no privacy and was a bright sauna making sleep difficult with small children in summer heat. The bunk bed room was a loft over the living area with no doors or window coverings - again not quiet or private. Also no bunks - just 4 single beds and a double. The 6th bedroom listed has having a futon was actually the garage converted to a games room - the futon/couch was really old and not in good enough shape to be slept on for 5 nights. The 3rd bedroom had no window screens or AC vents which got warm when the door was closed. There were ceiling fans that helped.2. The fenced-in pool in the photo was not the pool currently there. The current pool is a small inflatable that was out of commission until the 2nd last day of our stay. Atye was working hard to fix it, but had we known it wasnât as pictured, we may have chosen differently. The back porch was spacious and the kitchen was well equipped. It was a quiet road so the youngsters could ride bikes without traffic. We enjoyed despite not sleeping much.
Our stay at this cottage was disappointing. While the place was somewhat clean, we found expired items in the fridge. The biggest selling point for us was the hot tub, but it wasnât working. The host assured us it would be fixed, but that never happened. The worst part of our experience was getting stranded at the cottage due to a severe snowstorm. We informed the host, who initially told us to stay safeâbut the next day, she began demanding payment for the extra nights. We werenât staying by choice; we were simply stuck due to extreme weather. Instead of showing basic compassion, she pressured us to leave, claiming the next guests were arriving, despite 25 cm of snow outside. With no other option, I gathered what money I could and made a partial payment for the extra nights. To make matters worse, the cottage didnât provide drinking water, forcing us to rely on kind neighbors for food and water. They also warned us about the hostâs history of false advertising.Overall, I would not recommend this place.
Had a fantastic weekend at our stay here on the weekend before Christmas! Such a beautiful view and many amenities. Thank you for a memorable weekend we would love to stay again!
The house wasn't in perfect condition, but it was well furnished and we had no huge problems during our stay. We couldn't key in the door unlock code, so we had to wait for the host to call back, and explain where the key was hidden. The 2 kayaks were nice, but we could only find one paddle. The steps down to the beach were rickety, but not dangerous. The deck furniture was comfortable, and we enjoyed having plentiful bedrooms and showers.
The location and views are amazing, and the property is large with a lot of different ameneties. There is plenty to do for the whole family and the cottage was more than spacious enough for 9 adults. The beach is amazing as well. The deck was gorgeous and spacious, allowing everyone to enjoy the amazing views. The firepit was very nuch appreciated as well ans came with many tools to make smores. The hammock was a hit as well.
That being said, the cottage itself is quite weathered. The stairs going down to the beach are falling apart and therefor difficult to navigate for those with mobility issues. The shower on the bottom floor is unusable because it leaks water (we learned this the hard way and had to clean it up). The dishwasher is in very poor condition. It's handle was broken (still can open/close but with difficulty) and it did not clean the dishes well. The cottage itself was also not well cleaned at all, we found a lot of dust, dirt, dead bugs, and spiderwebs. We had to do some light cleaning when we got in. The hot tub took some time to get going and was not clean at all (had dirt/sand in it).
Overall, we would still recommend this cottage to anyone who wants amazing views and unbeatable location. We can overlook the poor maintenance because the location and property were so beautiful. Youre coming here to enjoy nature and outdoors, not for good appliances. That being said, just be prepared for a less maintained property.
Overall the property is absolutely beautiful! It is exactly like the photos and description, no surprises at all. The stairs to get down to the water are definitely an experience. I would not recommend trying the stairs if you have any mobility issues as it is quite easy to lose your balance/footing. Halfway down there is a beautiful sitting area/day bed which is a great place to watch the sun set on the water! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Thank you for being such a great host, answering all our messages promptly, and welcoming us to use your beautiful property!
We booked this cottage for our family that includes seniors and young children. The property and the views were great, check in process was straight forward. Unfortunately the property had things listed that were unsatisfactory when we got there. There were major issues that we had that the property manager did not address during our stay. We only had one usable washroom. Second bathroom had a broken toilet and a leaking shower. The steps to the beach were extremely unsafe, they were being held by a skids and driftwood at the bottom they were put together very poorly and made it very difficult for many members in our family to go up and down. The house was also not cleaned before our arrival. Beds were made but washroom, kitchen and floors were very poorly cleaned. The hot tub was extremely dirty, the property owner came on our last day to clear it but the smell was unbearable and the actual tub needed a scrub that probably has not had for many years. We do not believe that you get your moneyâs worth staying at this property, overpriced for the quality of the place, it is old and a bit run down as a house with little to no maintenance.
Very nice property - a lot of attention goes into the landscaping and garden. But generally a little tight for the higher end of the group range that it says it accommodates. Would definitely visit again just not with as large a group as what we needed to accomodate. Group did have an awesome time though
The view was beautiful and the property had everything you need for a beautiful trip. The beach was lovely though I wouldnât recommend the trek down for anyone with mobility issues.
Our host was very communicative and responded quickly when we needed assistance.
A beautiful property with lots of room inside and outside. Only concerns are the hot tub was really dirty, do not recommend using it, the water from the tap tastes very metallic, I would recommend bringing water bottles and the walk down to the beach was very dicey. Overall, a great property, would recommend for a large group,
We had high hopes for this cottage getaway as it was a few moms celebrating. My elderly parent arrived at the cottage 1hr earlier than check in, I contacted the host via the vrbo app and she said they could go in, no problem. I thought what a great start.
Upon entry, the fridge was filled with garbage, 2 rows of bottled items and old food, the coffee pot was half full, uncleaned, the toaster was filled with bread crumbs from never being cleaned. 2 of the 8 dining room chairs were broken and had tape on it, the rest of the chairs were shaky and very unsafe to sit. The BBQ pit door was broken and full of grease, the sun umbrella was missing and the outside table had old pieces of wood that had splinters as a table. The ad said 2 full bathrooms. The 1st floor bathroom had no sink to wash hands and the shower had a massive leak so as soon as you opened it, it would flood. The hot tub was filled with algea and mold and the inside cover was extremely unsanitary and had mold. We were not able to use the 1st floor bathroom or the hottub. The place had dust and cobweb everywhere. We found black bugs in 2 of the beds, hair on the sheets. It was the most uncleaned property I've ever stayed at and I book cottages every year. What made it worst was the fact that we could not get a hold of the host and vrbo was no help as they too could not reach the host. Some of the people left as it was just so unclean and with covid, they were afraid they would get sick. The few of us that remained had to clean and spend time on the phone with vrbo and got no help. We checked out and our case is with the resolution team at vrbo. The power went on Friday night for 2hrs and there were only 2 working flash lights in the home. All we wanted was for someone to come on Friday at the start of our weekend to clean the home. That was never done. So we paid almost $3000 for a property that we had to clean and not be able to relax, spend most of my evening on Friday and Saturday with Vrbo with no resolution. I don't understand how anyone could rent this property this way. This home is a lawsuit waiting to happen. I am expecting compensation other wise legal action will be taken.
When we checked out on Sunday, the home was much cleaner than we found it. We had elderly people and little kids, we could not stay in a place that was never cleaned especially since covid.
What was nice about this cottage was the access to the private beach. VRBO LISTED THIS PROPERY HAS A PREMEIR HOST.
The property was a beautiful getaway from everything!!! Plenty of space for an entire family. Amazing backyard with good access to Lake Huron and sandy beaches!!! Thank you Atyhe for clear communication and maintaining such a fantastic home!!!
Beautiful property with an amazing view which made for a memorable Christmas celebration with my family. The host was easy to communicate with and was very accommodating. Thank you for having us at your property.
