The Abbey - Gorgeous Living In the Village

This funky converted church hall set in subtropical gardens in the heart of one of the most Kiwiana villages left in New Zealand is located midway between Omaha and Matakana.

Modern french inspired decor and a huge Master bedroom, plus another double bedroom, full kitchen, modern bathroom, separate laundry and additional toilet, dining/sitting room and a very sunny separate lounge which has a big private deck, perfect for entertaining in the evening.

Take some time out to stroll along the esplanade reserve and listen to the abundant birdlife, or take a relaxing dip in the clear waters of Whangateau Harbour. Enjoy an old style feed of fresh fish and chips followed by a rolled icecream from the Point Wells General Store on the corner. Perhaps take the cycle trail to Omaha or Matakana. There are indoor games and books for wet days.

The Abbey is just great! We have just spent 4 nights there and loved it. It is VERY roomy, being part of a converted church building and has everything you could possibly need. The hosts, Andrew and Angela, were very friendly and helpful and always available by phone or text if needed. There is plenty to do and see in the Point Wells/Matakana area and lots of great places to eat and drink. We had meals at the Leigh Sawmill and the Matakana Market Kitchen and highly recommend both places. Returning here in July!

Very spacious and stylish house and it is much better than the photos. The deck area looks out onto a beautiful garden area. The owner was very kind & helpful. I had made a booking mistake which he kindly managed for us, and he also helped my husband fix his flat bike tire. We slept well in the comfy beds with good bedding & a nice selection of pillows. Its a lovely peaceful area and close to the very good cycle paths.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful boutique property. We enjoyed the spaciousness, comfortable beds, lovely hot shower with excellent pressure. Full kitchen facilitates with full sized refrigerator and a dishwasher. Very quiet area, and a great General Store at the corner of the street. We highly recommend this property and look forward to returning.

This spacious, clean, very well equipped and extremely comfortable home allows for a most relaxing getaway. The village has a lovely feel to it, wonderful footpaths and two parks, we were sad to leave but look forward to returning!

Lovely spot!!

We stayed at the Abbey for a short break, and it did not disappoint. The place is lovely to spend time in, beds are comfy, it's spacious, the park down the road was great for our daughter, we loved walking around the neighbourhood and there is lots to do in the area.

Great post, fantastic location

The property is great for a small family looking to experience what the area has to offer. It's a short drive from most places and a stones throw to a great store that does burgers, fish and chips etc. Andrew was great to communicate with, very much recommend this house!

Really great property

Great property with helpful friendly hosts, who responded quickly to couple of small things. Very secluded, close to the shop and water. Comfy beds and great layout for hanging out. Top notch.
