Thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay in this unique location while visiting Chaco Canyon The location is within the property of a Christian mission and seemed very safe. The property/room is as described and pictured. We found it immaculately clean and very comfortable. The bed is comfortable but bring your own feather pillows if you don't prefer foam. The kitchen facility and supplies are quite adequate. Plenty of coffee pods are supplied with the Keurig. The small gas grill was perfect for grilling a small meal. The host and caretaker were immediately responsive and will supply ice for drinks and cooler if requested. Check-in and out was simple and straightforward. One highlight of this property is the stargazing from the mesa just a few yards above and behind the Hogan. On a clear night, especially in new moon phase, this should not be missed! Highly recommended!
Hogan was a wonderful place! It was clean and super comfortable. Hosts were easy to communicate with and very kind. We were as close as possible to Chaco for summer Solstice. The mesas around the property were beautiful.
Excellent, friendly, charming, contemporary and well-decorated base for explorign the surrounding desert, reservations, and Chaco Canyon. Gorgeous, fun, short trail wanders straight onto the top of the small mesa behind the property, which offers a great view and a wondrous world of eroded sandstone.
Loved this place
Great location for nature and quiet. They were very helpful and understanding with directions as you gotta do a little dirt spur to find it. Book it now!
We wanted to visit the Chaco Cultural Center and were excited to find accommodations very near the entrance.
The hogan was perfect! A great deal of effort was used to make everything clean, neat and very livable. Thanks to those responsible.
We were impressed with the Hogan, itâs furnishings, spaciousness and well equipped kitchen. We wished we could have stayed longer than our quick overnight. Our host was also helpful in finding us a good restaurant in nearby Cuba. Thank you!
The hogan was perfect for my adventure in the Chaco Cayon and the Bisti Band lands. Both are very remote locations and are difficult and time consuming to see. Study the pictures of the Hogan and determine for your self and if it is perfect for your adventure into a absolutly unbelievable part of United States.
A friend and I spent 2 nights in a hogan in Counselor NM. We were there to tour Chaco Canyon, world heritage site. The dark skies were perfect for star gazing and the tour very interesting. Would recommend the trip 100%!
We really enjoyed staying here for two nights on our trip to see Chaco Canyon. The Hogan was clean and comfortable and the hosts were wonderful. We worked through them to get the Navajo fry bread making session on-site and it was wonderful. But the best part was the amazing views, especially at sunrise and sunset. We will stay here again! Note you need to bring everything you'll need. There are no stores or restaurants close by.
The hogan was so clean and pleasant. The hosts provided everything we needed for a great stay, including a washer and dryer. There is some nice hiking on the property.
the hogan itself was wonderful, with one exception.
THE LIGHTS OUTSIDE. We traveled a long distance to find accommodations that would allow us to see the night sky in a dark place. We found the place, but with a street light outside and spot lights shining in the windows from the adjoining buildings was a GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT. The artificial light really ruined the experience. Otherwise the accommodations were very nice. The idea of not giving the access information until you are already out of range of service is also annoying and caused anxiety. We did figure it out.
My wife and I were looking for a place to stay that was close to Chaco Canyon. This part of New Mexico is fairly remote, and services are few and far between. We were so lucky to have found this rental! The location is quiet, peaceful and picturesque. The hogan sits right next to a small mesa with interesting rock formations, which you are able to hike up and enjoy the view.
The hogan has a kitchen and laundry facilities, and enough amenities to prepare meals. Definitely a must - the closest restaurants are over 30 miles away. Groceries are even further, so bring all the food youâre going to need. AC / Heating worked great. Bed was on the softer side but comfortable. Great wifi (Starlink). Highly recommend!
