We had a wonderful six night stay in early October. Three generation family and we all agreed, it was the nicest VRBO stay we have ever had. Great house - great location. The communication with the host prior and during the visit was thorough and helpful. The house is really well laid out with a large common area and a great porch to gather. Great accessibility to Acadia. Cannot recommend highly enough
The property location was very nice. Easy drive to everything on the island but remote at the same time. The sunrises are amazing. Plenty of room and comfortable for 8 people. Well stocked kitchen and bathrooms. Peter was always available, check in was easy. Driveway is quite steep, I recommend having a 4 wheel dive car if you plan on staying here.
The view off the back porch and the overall charm of the property makes this place special! We saw seals everyday while sitting in the back porch. At night you get a great clear view of the stars! We had everything we could need available to us! With Acadia and bar harbor just a short drive away it makes this house a home run!
This property has everything you could possibly need to spend an amazing week relaxing rain and shine. Peter went above and beyond to make our stay as special as possible
Excellent property for our extended family vacation! Host was very communicative & helpful. Our favorite thing was sitting on the deck, taking in the incredible view! We highly recommend.
This rental absolutely lived up to its high rating. The location couldnât be betterâjust minutes from the park entrance, yet the cabin felt private and secluded. It was the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor, and the views were truly stunning. We loved the digging for mussels down at the beach (delicious!) and found the kitchen to be well-equipped for cooking. Peter was communicative and a pleasure to work with throughout the entire stay. Our only (very minor) issue was that the tap water had a strong metallic taste, so we ended up buying bottled water during our stay. Definitely not a deal breaker, but worth mentioning.Overall, a wonderful experienceâour family would happily stay here again!
The home was comfortable with beautiful views and convenient to Acadia, restaurants, other island spots. Loved being so close to the beach . Also enjoyed the wildlife. Was perfect
This is an incredible property in a pristine location. Peter is a 5-star host--absolutely the best. Everything about our stay was perfect. You are near everything on MDI and yet completely secluded. There is really no need to leave the house! The deck is the perfect place to soak in the calm and peacefulness that are abundant just out the back door. The kitchen is terrific for meal prep and we loved having dinner in the screened-in porch. Can't recommend this strongly enough!
The house was a wonderful post and beam design with lots of windows. It has a beautiful view of the ocean and is surrounded by nature. We saw deers and fawns, otters and several bald eagles, one of which would sit in a tree 50 ft from the house. It was easy to get to Bar Harbor and the park as well as local grocery stores and restaurants. All around great place and vacation spot. We were lucky to catch a beautiful sunrise at the house and sunset from Cadillac Mountain and also experience two nice cool foggy hikes. Now back home and 95 degrees we wish we could have stayed longer!
Our family ejoyed our week-long stay at Overlook. The property was well equipped and located in a private, wooded setting with spectacular views. The main floor bedroom and bath was perfect for the grandparents. Thanks for sharing the home with us.
The view and quietness were breathtaking, the home was clean, comfortable and well-equipped. All ages of our family enjoyed our stay. Property is situated for access to Acadia and Bar Harbor.
We were 3 adult couples visiting Acadia Park. Layout allowed us to spread out - 1 bed/bath on each floor, 1 bdrm was unused. Older home so you can hear people going up/down stairs at night. Location was quiet, away from hustle and bustle but close enough to Bar Harbor, Acadia and some convenient restaurants nearby. Beautiful view from deck and fun to walk down and explore the shore. Kitchen was well stocked and we appreciated items in pantry, condiments and plenty of spices. House could use some general minor maintenance but overall we enjoyed our stay.
It was a vacation for a grown family with 2 young grandchildren. Nana, Papa and aunts and uncles. Kitchen was terrific as we did all our own cooking. Nice size fridge for a weeks groceries for 10! WiFi worked well for a few that had to work remotely. Great time in a large comfortable home.
If I were to offer any suggestions, making more bath towels available would be nice.
This place is in a wonderful location. Wooded and right on water. The walk to th shore is made of wood steps. The shore is just peaceful and so natural. With all those little creature in the water and under the seaweeds. The sunrise and sunset over the water is mesmerizing. The deck is so memorable to sit with family and chat.
Downtown Bar Harbor is fun to walk around. Lots of quick bites and all tasty. The waterfront grassy area is like in a painting. Sailing boats passing by, people and kids, family and friendsâŠThere is a lobster roll place right nearby where you can order takeout lobster rolls and borrow their tarps to sit on the grass. That was a real treat.
We used the public transportation to get where we wanted to go. We walked from the property to a camp ground nearby to ride the bus. The walk is about 10 to 15 minutes. The bus is always on time and the drivers are very pleasant.
The owner, Peter, even brought in a cake for us to enjoy. We never met but he and I communited well through messaging. No issues.
Washing machine and dryer are in good working order. Kitchen supplies are plenty.
Again, I want to mention that deck. Its image stuck in my mind. And a bald eagle will come by every day to perch right in front of us. Gorgeous. She must have a nest nearby.
We were with our kids and grandkids there for a week. And that week is full of warm memories. Thanks for making this possible.

Our family trip to Acadia was a huge success! How can you go wrong, though, with a beautiful national park and such a wonderful house to come back to each afternoon/evening! The location of the house was fantastic for all of our exploring. Views from the deck for sunrise and to watch the seals, dolphins, and eagles, were simply divine! Peter was great in his communication with us and ensuring that our trip was excellent! Couldn't have asked for more!
Everything about our stay was fantastic! The location was the perfect place for any weather from sun to rain, with plenty of space indoors/outdoors/and even a screened in covered porch. We enjoyed relaxing in the comfy deck chairs to the sounds of waves lapping below and gulls calling. It was so utterly peaceful that even if you didnât leave the house to venture into Acadia or Bar Harbor (both extremely close) you could still call it a vacation well spent!
The beds were comfy, the kitchen was the best appointed kitchen Iâve had in a rental hands down, and there were games handy to play if you wanted to.
The Host was super responsive and provided really well-written instructions for everything, we had no issues with anything at all!
If youâre looking for a family friendly space to get the essential Maine experience with, Overlook is the spot!
The house is clean. Kitchen is fully stocked, including non-sticky pots that look new.
The view is great, close to all hiking trails and restaurants.
Peter is kind and committed to meeting the needs.
