We had an amazing time staying a week here with our family of four and our dog. We went on many fun adventures in the area and enjoyed the backyard creek. The place was very clean with lots of charm. The house sits on a large acreage, which was very private and quiet. Would love to come back!
Absolutely loved the Charming and very spacious country home! The beautiful acres added a whole new level of peacefulness, with a creek full of rocks (grandkids are rockhounds)that adjoined the Osage river was FANTASTIC!! The fish were small, but the frog catching was plentiful for grandkids. The kids also loved playing grandpa a few games of ping pong on the downstairs table as well as the vintage video games in the sun room.It was an added bonus for our very sm dogs, who loved running and swimming without having to be leashed & could accompany us to the daily river and creek fun, not to be left in a hotel room with 4 walls to stare at until we returned. The property was just 23 miles from Roaring River for some excellent trout fishing & close to other attractions like cave tours and charming small town shopping at some wonderful stores! WM is a 6 min drive & We never wanted for something to do!The doubled kitchen counters with huge amts of cabinet space made cooking for a large group easy. also, there was a k-cup & standard coffee maker, a plethora of spices, sugar, catsup, mustard etc: that prev vacationers passed on to the next.We loved our stay so much, after the kids left, my husband & I wanted to stay another day for some alone time, Isaac, was happy to oblige & made the process of booking an extra night hassle free!Look. This is an older farm house w rustic charm. There may b a dust bunny or 2 under bed, or a dresser drawer may have a loose handle, it was PERFECT!
The property was as described. It felt very private but was not far from our activities in Eureka Springs. If you want to relax and unwind, this is the spot for it.
This was perfect for a weekend trip to visit a friend who is working in NWA over the summer. Close enough to feel like we could easily get anything we needed, but out of town enough for it to feel peaceful. The ping pong table especially got a lot of use out of us. Host expectations for cleanup on checkout were reasonable. Also the best equipped kitchen Iâve seen at a rental.
When you first walk in, it will go into the kitchen and it feels like grandma is waiting for you. The home has been kept up, It has not been remodeled. We absolutely love this. The sturdy hardwood cabinets, the oversize leather chair, and sofa make you feel at home. The huge yard with the fire pit is absolutely amazing. There is a short trail and you will find yourself at the river. It is the home of 107 year-old Mary Epperson. You will find a couple of family pictures and a brief biography of Mary in the welcome book on the table by the door.If thereâs something you needing, just keep opening cabinets and youâll probably find it. Salt, pepper, sugar, coffee for both the regular coffee maker, and the Keurig, which are both provided, and a multitude of other spices. Everything to make your stay more comfortable.
We (wife, me and our Bichon) stayed 4 nights in April and it rained 3 of the days we were there. When we arrived and opened the door I was immediately taken back in my mind to my grandmothers house. It smelled like the old girl still lived there. Sort of musty, dusty and old. A few broken windows here and there. Updated oven and stove top but everything else seems just the way Grandma left it. The house is large for a two bedroom. Light sleepers won't appreciate the extremely creaky floors if someone has to get up at night. Ongoing painting and repair projects were evident and the electrical outlets won't accept your three-prong plugs so bring an adapter. A basement ping pong and foosball table is advertised and usable if you don't mind playing in the dim light of two lamps. It is requested that you empty the basement de-humidifier when it is full, which when we were there was about every 3-4 hours. A small shower and toilet are also in the basement next to the washer and dryer but don't expect too much privacy. The creek was running high with all the rain and it's about 200 yards behind the house. Fishing and floating are advertised but at this time it was more like roaring rapids. We enjoyed the sound of the rushing water but only got to venture down there one day that wasn't rainy.I'll have to give Cleanliness a C as the floors were dirty and there was more than one pet hairball.
Pros: Creek but not visible from house, must walk about 100 yds, house was secfluded, furniture comfy, foosball and ping pong in basement, plenty of linens, dishes, cookware, heat/ac worked well.Cons: Could have been much cleaner and linens and cookware needed to be organized, looked like things were just thrown in, only 1 bath in main area, half bath downstairs was very "no frills".
We so enjoyed the location. We so enjoyed watching the deer, had seven doe's one morning playing in the yard, the two small bucks came later in the day. The crows were fun to watch as well as all the birds in the bird feeder. Had a fun time, fixed some great meals, saw some great country, and met some very nice people.
My family and I booked this place for my bday weekend. This is a very spacious and historic home that is conveniently located close to town but has the feeling of privacy and seclusion. We throughly enjoyed the creek and river that adjoin the property. I highly recommended for any nature lover!
We greatly enjoyed the peacefulness of this place. It was as advertised and communication with the owner was good. Lots of deer! Fishing was not good due to high water, but I did manage to catch a few. River is not too far from the house.
House was great. Plenty of room for us all. Nice and quiet. Great place to unwind. If your in the area and need a great place to stay i highly recommended. Thanks for a great home away from home.
We loved this place. Plenty of space indoors and stocked with everything we needed but the real beauty is outdoors. We enjoyed the fire pit and had loads of fun finding rocks in the river. We will definitely return!!!
Very nice older home. Loved the large yard. I think my dog's loved the open well kept yard. Easy access to the water. Not far from downtown Eureka Springs.
This is not your luxury BnB, and we were not looking for one. What it IS: comfy and what a great layout! Being from Texas I forget how others have the terrain to build into the hillside.. loved being able to bring dogs through the basement after rinsing them down! The creek was flowing low, so we took dogs to the river Nearby after the owner suggested it.
House was big but the description of property did not match what we got. It's says Riverfront fishing and floating getaway, however is actually Osage Creek. The photos of this on the profile showed it full and flowing but we found ankle deep water maybe shin deep if walking through the creek. No swim beach as listed and was not good for fishing, luckily we were not floating. Although there was a smart tv in bedroom, it was not connected to any service or antenna tv. Only able to use if you set up as a new device on your own streaming service. There were no balls for foosball which my daughter was disappointed about, lighting in basement where it and ping pong were located was terrible, no seating, not decorated as an area to "hang out". Nice to read about the original owner of the house, however having large amount of their personal belongings/decorations still in place everywhere made it seem like we were staying the night in someone elses home rather than a rental property. There were several old condiment bottles still in refrigorator along with old ice cream in the freezer. We were told to start the washer with dirty laundry/towels when we leave which was fine, however both the washer and drier were full of stuff already. Luckily we were only staying 2 nights or could have been another issue if needing to use them for ourselves since listed as an amenity. The town has no attraction and only drivethru restaurants. We did not get check in info until the morning of.
We booked this property for a short vacation and a chance to fish and relax. What we found was although there was access to the river it was not as easy as suggested in the listing. it stated you could fish the river. What we found was ankle to knee deep creek and no fish. Upon entering the home we found that the microwave had to be cleaned and the coffee pot still had coffee grounds growing mold in it. There were what appeared to bullet holes in the back bedroom. Down stairs in the laundry room was a glue trap for mice, that had a lizard caught on it. Instructions from the host was to please empty the dehumidifier, that was an every 2 hour job if you kept up with it. Charcoaler was also dirty. We did understand that this was a older home (100) years so if you have to use a CPAP take adapters with you as the plugs are two prong no ground. No light or door for the down stairs restroom.
May want to have an exterminator come and spray for bugs. There are also mouse poop on some of the pans in the cabinets. Other wise its a very nice place to stay. We loved the river too!
The house was clean and had several unique decorations. Itâs definitely quiet and perfect for a getaway off the beaten path but close to amenities. The creek was not reasonably accessible for swimming while we were there. The price is reasonable. Overall pretty good place for a family
