We recently stayed at this hotel and overall had an okay experience. The building itself is lovely, and the bar area is really nice. The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. Our room was spacious with a lovely view, and there was plenty of heating, although the entryway by the staircase was uncomfortably hot. Unfortunately, a few details let the stay down. The toilet flush was very loud and didn’t work properly, and we found a dirty towel on arrival—though thankfully there were enough clean ones for it not to be a major issue. After our first night, the room wasn’t made up. Towels were replaced, but the coffee wasn’t replenished and the beds weren’t made, which was disappointing. Reception being right next to the busy bar also made check-ins and queries a bit difficult due to the noise. For what we paid, the stay was acceptable, but with a bit more attention to the small details, it could have been much better value for money.

The whole hotel is so run down, old and looks to be falling to pieces. It felt like faulty towers. Our room didn’t have heating. The radiators did not work, seemed like they hadn’t been bled in years. When we arrived the room had a plug in radiator already on, it was still cold so when we were popping out for food we told the man on reception and he sent another radiator straight up to our room. I couldn’t fault the staff, they were great. The man who checked us in was lovely and very helpful but the hotel is terrible. We paid for two nights while visiting family and left the first morning and wasted the money on what we had paid for the 2nd. I wouldn’t stay here again if it was free!

Everything fine apart from the attendance of Police twice to arrest asylum seekers who are apparently being housed there and one of them, who was very drunk, trying to get served in the hotel bar. Although how he can afford to drink there at the scandalous bar prices I aren't sure.

Whilst the hotel is technically wheelchair friendly it involved leaving my disabled partner outside in the cold whilst i went inside to open a fire exit that could only be opened from inside. The main entrance could easily be fitted with a ramp but isnt. The room itself was acceptable but the portable radiator (despite on light showing) and a lamp didnt work.

This hotel is shabby at best. Way past its prime. The vestibule from reception to the room on the right hand side of the main building as you look at it was stinking. The toilet door was constantly open and stank. The whole place smelt of freshener covering up mustiness. The room itself whilst not dirty other than some dusty lights but smelt terrible. It smelt like the cleaning cloths used had never been washed and had that stinky dishcloth smell of ‘minkiness’. The bathroom floor had vinyl covering what we can only describe as sponge. The floor was undulating and bouncy. Uneven and quite frankly as an ex HSE person quite a risk. The rubber upskirt was coming away from the walls and in one place had been taped up with masking tape. The ceiling was moulding and flaking. Similar issues in the main room ceiling cracked and flaking. All the units had veneer off or lifting. Bare minimum of tea/coffee and the box of face/nose tissues was attached to the wall above the toilet bowl !!! Nice collection of airborne toilet germs and when pulling tissues out the box fell off the wall every time! On the plus side the bed was well made and the reception chap was most pleasant.

So we really enjoyed our stay. Polite staff and a spacious room. During Breakfast Rudy was very attentive and checking on us to ensure the food was satisfactory. Breakfast was good, location great and ample parking convenient too. The only reason I gave it three stars was that communication before arrival was poor. I tried many ways to get in touch with the hotel to make changes without losing my payment but noone replied, not through the Expedia website nor directly from to me from the hotel. As a result I had to cancel a day of work which cost me. Outside of communication, the actual experience at the hotel was great. A lovely place that I'd definitely return to again. An honest review.

Staff are lovely, breakfast very good, bed was fine for one night. Aside of that, the hotel was extremely tired, elements were dirty (carpets, bath) but it must be an uphill struggle for the staff working there. The cost was reasonable and the bed was fine, but if my wife was there we’d have had to walk away!

Guests, who appeared to be long term residents, kept me awake until after 03.00. I had to get security to deal with the noise. Children running around the bar area at 20.00, unchecked. I was on a work trip, so after a long day, I wanted to unwind an get a good nights sleep, so I was refreshed for the next day. When I complained to reception about the previous evening events, I was told he was sorry. I was also concerned about the fire safety standards of the hotel. Having stayed at this hotel previously, without any issues, for whatever reason it appears to have gone downhill rapidly. I'll be giving it a miss in the future!
