Our room 103 at Hotel La More was right beside the front desk, so it was not a quiet location. The afternoon sun was pouring through the windows of our room, making it quite hot. Unfortunately, the air conditioning for the room was controlled by a thermostat in the hallway, which controlled the air conditioning for the entire first floor — so by making it cooler for our room, it might make it too cold for other rooms that weren’t facing the sun. Also, if someone in another room found it too cold, they might go and change the thermostat, potentially creating a battle over the thermostat! There was no television in our room, although there was a shared space down the hall where guests could watch movies. The bathroom contained a toilet and shower, but the sink was located right inside the very tiny bedroom. The bedroom held a king size bed and the sink, but nothing else — no chair to sit in, no desk. Finally, although the bedding, towels, and wall paper were lovely and in keeping with a ‘boutique’ hotel, it was not enough to make up for all the other inconveniences of the room. We stayed about 10 minutes, just long enough to realize that the room was totally unsuitable for us. In spite of having paid for the room in advance, we decided to leave and spend the night at another hotel with a much larger room that included all the basic amenities that one would expect in a hotel, like individually controlled air conditioning, a TV, and a more functional bathroom.
