The cabin is wonderful! It’s secluded but still easy access to Black Hawk, Central City and Idaho Springs. The sound of the creek was so relaxing. We even were able to watch a mama moose and her two calves from the back deck. The bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living spaces are all fantastic. Our experience with the property manager was mixed. The first day was frustrating because he didn’t provide us the right password for the WiFi and there is not any cell service at the cabin so we had to drive into Black Hawk (10 mins) to call him . . . several times because he repeatedly gave us passwords which didn’t work. He also sent three high school boys to fix the cover of the hot tub. He didn’t let us know they were coming and then they took several hours to complete a repair that should have taken less than an hour. On the positive side, he did give us a later check-out. All and all, it was a wonderful vacation.

Girls Weekend

Pros:The location was perfect for our weekend getaway. 5 minutes to the casinos and restaurants. Communication with host was fast and efficient. Plenty of space in the home. Loved the kitchen and all of the windows and natural light. The views were incredible. Also enjoyed the hot tub and the beautiful scenery and peace. Con’s:It is an older home and there were smells of sewage randomly throughout the day. Sometimes pretty overwhelming. Kitchen could have had better/more pots & pans. A lot were scratched up or burnt.But Overall great stay. Exactly what we needed.Thankful for the space, location, and gorgeous views.

Peaceful, mountain home

We had an exceptional stay at this home. The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed. We were celebrating our friend's 25th birthday and enjoyed relaxing watching movies, soaking in the hot tub while it lightly snowed, and enjoyed some hot drinks by the fireplace. The property is very private and well taken care of. The hosts were amazing. They checked in on us to make sure everything was gong well and let us know to contact them should we need anything. Overall, this first time ever staying at a VRBO, it exceeded any expectations we had. Thank you for letting us stay in your home!

Summer Get a Way

We arrived and everything was as listed. When we noticed the hot tub might be a little low on water it was addressed immediately. It was quiet and peaceful. Close proximity to anything one might want or forgot to pack. All area attractions were a 30 min or less drive. This is easily in our top 5 VRBO experiences!

Terrible smell in the house

When we checked in the house smelled like sewage. Several windows were open and the back screen door was open with a fan blowing in. Also there seemed to be a lot of air freshener sprayed but the sewage smell was overwhelming. We thought maybe previous renters had made a mess and the place was left to air out and it would get better. I contacted the manager the following morning bc the smell was still very strong and my daughter in law was feeling sick. The smell was very bad outside the two lower bedrooms and hall bath. Also the washer dryer area was really bad. The manager texted me back and said he would call but I never heard from him. We had to open several windows, which made the house very cold, but with the windows closed we couldn’t sit in the living room due to the odor. My daughter in law had to leave Saturday morning because she couldn’t stay in the house without feeling sick. Our other son and his fiancĂ© also were sick and weren’t able to sleep in the bedroom downstairs. If we had any other options to stay somewhere else we would have left but we didn’t know what else to do so we stayed and kept windows open and fans running. I think there may be a real septic tank or drainage problem at the house and due to the house being so open when we arrived, I think management was aware. In my opinion, the house is not fit to be rented at this time. I would like a partial refund due to the fact that 3 people in our party were sick from the smell.

Blackhawk trip 2024

We plan a trip every year usually during spring break. This year was no different and we planned a trip to Colorado hoping for some snow and boy did we get it. Although we were snowed in for a day we made the best of it there. There were plenty of games and things to do, we even enjoyed the hot tub. Everything we needed was supplied for us, minus the food but we managed and were able to make to a casino to enjoy a nice dinner there. We would definitely come back and stay again.

The house was great for teenagers and my husband and I. We loved the hot tub and cooked all meals at the house. The washing machine door lock was broken when we arrived, but communication with Brian was speedy and it was repaired quickly. Loved our family getaway!

A wonderful home

Had a wonderful time. A well-maintained and well-equipped home situated on a quiet mountain road - If you are looking for an a peaceful family vacation, this is the place - a short drive to the casinos and great hiking. Loved the early morning walks to watch deer (from a distance) and other natural habitat.

We absolutely loved this home and it surpassed our expectations (and I looked at many).The property manager, Bryan, was great to work with and very responsive to all my questions prior to booking. The home, guest accommodations, mountain setting...just the total experience was awesome. Great memories were made and we definitely plan to stay here again!

Walked into a very clean house. Awesome place to stay with the family. The relaxing hot tub is, great outdoor space for the kids to play and explore. Unbearable sewer smell

Unfortunately I didn’t stay at all when I showed up I wasn’t feeling well, and upon entering I was hit in the face with an unbearable sewage smell and made me even more sick, therefore I left immediately and drove back down to Denver and went to the emergency room! Upon looking at other reviews I’m not the first person to complain about the sewer smell. I should have read the comments before booking! The owners do not give refunds at all and are very aware of the sewage problem. I tried to contact someone multiple times regarding the problem and no answer I wasted $ on this disgusting, smelly property!

Great Place but Needs some Major HELP!

Overall the stay was great the location was awesome and the actual home was clean as well. The issues we ran into were septic related, not of our own doing. There is a major mechancial issue causing sewer gases to come into the home. We contacted the property manager who was responsive and did attempt to assist.... but it wasn't handled how it should have been. So the sewer gas would be in the home 70 pecent of the day typically when any water was used the sewer would then push more sewer gas back into the home. The manager Bryan sent out his contractor to unclog a drain and or clear out the disposal after I made the initial contact with him. These were not the issue at all, but my thoughts were maybe they knew something we did not. Unfortunately its not an issue dealing with the disposal or a drain being clogged. The issue is related to issues in the recent remodel that was done there. The sewer lines are not properly vented causing them to burp when flushing which pulls air into the home in the process. Not only that but I believe the toilets were not set properly with a wax ring as the sewer smell typically originated at the base of the toilets. Bryan did send roto rooter out as well on the initial contact to unclog a drain, which was not the issue nor did we lead them to believe it was an issue. I would strongly advise to request physical evidence that these issues were resolved prior to your stay. Also confirm the hot tub is clan prior to your stay!!

I didn’t receive the check in information until after check in time of 4pm(checked spam no email either) I called the rental contact multiple times and even texted earlier in the day to see if we could check in early. No response. Had to reach out to the vrbo team to get in contact with him. The hot tub had bottle caps(shock top, fat tire, etc) from the previous guests. It was also full of hair which we tried to skim out. Overall the place was beautiful and very clean on the inside. We did enjoy our stay and would definitely go back.
