If you want the sound of real rushing water to fall asleep by, come to River Peace. Indoors or on the screened porch or on the deck, the McKenzie river is always with you. The kitchen is new and the mini split was welcome on one 100 degree day, while the traditional wood walls and built ins evoke a well loved family heirloom. We spent our time there outdoors listening to the riverâŠgreat communication with the proprietors and easy check-in and out procedures..
This place was a perfect little cabin above the rapids off the Mckenzie Highway. It is away from the main highway and very quiet. It is a unique cabin built in 1930 and you feel like you are stepping back in time when you walk in the front door. It was very clean and the older furniture and wood paneling made it cozy and comfortable. The beds were comfortable with clean sheets and linens. I loved the built in cabinets in the bedrooms and wish I could have met the original inhabitants of the building. You can tell there was a lot of love put into the cabin. We spent much of the days on the deck and the covered front porch, and when it got too hot there, we were able to retreat into the air conditioned interior. I felt like I was staying in a simpler time and got much needed rest. Thank you for sharing this special place
We loved the location. How wonderful to sit and enjoy the river. Comfortable bed, clean and thoroughly enjoyable. It had everything we needed. Thank you!
Great cottage, beautiful river, loved sitting on the deck above the river. Very comfortable and in a good location. My only small complaint is that I thought I could access the river and fish from the banks of the McKenzie at the cottage, but the steep 20-foot bluff makes that impossible. So don't plan on fishing there.
Everything was great - the peace of staying on a roaring river, near hiking, hot springs, and local places to eat and hear live music. All was fabulous!
Beautiful location but the cabin is pretty rustic. Lots of dark wooden walls and older furniture. Not enough windows so very dark inside on a rainy day. Only 1 roll of toilet paper for five people. Good thing I brought a roll, otherwise we ran out. No blankets for couch beds. Says it sleeps six, but two people have no blankets. The high price is for location, not for accommodations.
We enjoyed the stay. Overall, it was a nice stay.
The hosts were great to deal with and willing to work with us regarding our stay. Thank you!! The bed and sheets were comfortable. The down sides, there was mouse poop in the oven drawer on the pans. There were cobb webs around inside and a bunch on the furniture in the enclosed deck. We had to clean the furniture before sitting and table to enjoy the enclosed area. No spiders, so they had been there a while. A little more cleaning would help. Also hanging cobb web in the shower. The second bed was super squeaky. Overall a nice stay.
My mom, Aunt and myself go on an annual trip together- this spot was perfect! Tucked away from large crowds, directly off the river. Everything was so peaceful and the white noise from the river was so relaxing! Our favorite spot in the house was the covered patio, perfect for playing cards and enjoying a drink! Would recommend it for those who like solitude and need some time away!
Loved this place on the river. Appreciated all the cabin charm and updates. It was clean with everything we needed. Would definitely stay recommend and stay again.
It was exactly as described by the owner. Neat and clean. Check in process was easy. Since the deck was right by the McKenzie River it was nice. And the screened in back porch was a great place to eat, enjoy the cool breeze off the river and the sound of the water.
We greatly enjoyed our stay there.
