Potential Greatness

The place is under some type of renovation that should be disclosed. A hot tub was advertised but was completely drained and under construction. The office is not identified with any signage. We located it by the work cart out front after driving around the property twice. There is no way to access the work out room because it isn’t finished but also because the front office isn’t always staffed to let people in. The first room we were given had no hot water. The second room was fine. The rooms are clean and modern. Both rooms included a wall heater that looked like a fire place. The beds were big. They felt like foam and were quite squishy. There were an abundance of toiletries. The towels were soft. The outside of the building is new looking and I believe it will be amazing when the construction is completed.

Cute rooms

The hotel has no signage. I’m assuming it’s because after I booked I got a message that they have a new name, but there should be something so you know you’re at the right place. At least a sign that says hotel. The showers only have half doors, which allow water to get all over the bathroom. Other than that, we had a pleasant stay. The beds a comfortable, and a decent view.

OK when you don't have any other place.

After a long day drive from San Jose to Bodega, we reached the hotel at 5PM and the room was not ready for my family. I was truly disappointed as we were tired and wanted to rest. Lisa was a great help. She apologized made sure the room gets cleaned asap. I feel, they should keep some coffee at front desk for the guests who are waiting. Anyways, overall, our stay was good after that, the balcony opened to the bay view. They do not have any in-house kitchen but there are good restaurants at a walking distance and an early morning coffee/ice cream shop adjacent. For the inconvenience caused to us on the first day due to delay in preparing of our room, we were compensated with $100 off per night. We may opt for another place next time.

Extremely Disappointing Experience – Not As Advertised We booked our stay at Bodega Bay Coast Inn and Suites, only to arrive and find it had been rebranded as Hotel Dega — with no prior notice. To make matters worse, the directions we were given were completely inaccurate, causing a two-hour delay and forcing us to search for a gas station just to make a call, as the service was patchy and we couldn’t reach anyone reliably. While the woman at the front desk was kind and apologetic, promising a refund toward our stay, that refund was never issued — and follow-up calls were eventually ignored. We tried calling three separate times to check in and were essentially ghosted. The room itself left much to be desired. The door didn’t open properly with the code and didn’t close securely. There were no phones in the room, and the front desk is only available from 12pm–8pm, which left us without any support when we needed it. That night, the TV had no internet connection, and we had to call a third-party line in another country just to get the internet turned on. The next morning, there was no hot water — and once again, we had to contact a third party for assistance. The photos on the website are misleading. The actual experience did not reflect the quality we expected. We’ve never left a negative review before, but this experience was incredibly frustrating and disappointing. We would not recommend staying here.

Unfinished remodel and some other issues

The property is actively being remodeled. That mention was subtle and understated in the ad. The work was immediately above our room during day hours, the spa, while not advertised would have placed the property on par with competitors, and staffing was bare. The shower was modern but the half shower door was installed on the wrong side so water from showers spread water all over the bathroom floor. Nice property, once the remodel is done and they staff up and fix incorrectly installed showers.

Wonderful! Peaceful and quiet — great views of Bodega Bay — clean large rooms with a little balcony! Rooms are spaced out so do not feel cramped near other people …Easy place for dogs …lovely fake fireplace—for heat.

I would rate it a 3 the beds were comfortable and the room was clean and nicely decorated but it felt still under construction we didn't know the hotel was going to be under construction...no lobby, no water, no jacuzzi, no signage and the guests above us made a lot of noise walking around at 1am. I would like to check it out when it is completely done but that is my review for this experience.

Obviously in the midst of renovation, lots more to be done. Rooms were somewhat odd regarding layout, e.g., 1st room (we asked to change) was “accessible” but had no closet?!? 2nd room was better but toilet didn’t work well. Lighting in room is nearly nonexistent. Very dark in room. Power was out from 9pm to 5:30am. I use a CPAP machine for sleep and, therefore, did not sleep much through the night. I woke up with a severe sore throat as a result. TV was in and out. Set up in bathroom is unreal, set up poorly so during shower water is pouring out on the floor. Toilet worked poorly. In all, pretty bizarre event. Strongly considered just leaving but we have few options so we're kind of stuck.

I think it's easier to find the room if you put the building's name together with the room number. The shower door only covered halfway so the bathroom floor got wet easily. Love the view, especially at sunset.

Property is in a great location in Bodega Bay. It’s walking distance to the bird walk, beach and restaurants. Our check in was smooth but there was an issue in the room we were assigned. Lisa at the front desk was so helpful and went above and beyond to upgrade us to a new room. We had an issue with the electric fireplace not working but that was eventually fixed. Beds were comfortable. Must go to the Fishetarian. We also had a lovely dinner at Drakes. It’s worth the 5 minute drive to Sea Flower Cafe for a breakfast burrito and espresso.

The self check-in system is flawed at best. I will say the manager, Lisa is polite and welcoming. You have a great view of the bay from your room. 10/10 Here’s the problems I had: Our bedsheets seemed unchanged. There was dust and some hair on our blankets. It wasn’t that dirtiest thing I’ve ever slept in, but it definitely wasn’t freshly cleaned. 2/10 The rooms look like they were recently renovated, but it was very lipstick on a pig vibes For example, the shower door was on the wrong side so when you take a shower, the water just splatters all over the bathroom floor. The sink had no caulking around it. You could see the old wallpaper print through the paint on the wall. Etc. However, it is what it is that didn’t bother me too much. We had some snacks in our room and I guess because we brought food in our hotel — we woke up to a crazy amount of ants. In our bed on the floor all over the desk on the walls everywhere. And no, not food sitting out, not sugary Gummies just some regular snacks in packaging. And some leftover food in our trashcan. I did text the manager about that upon checkout she said she would get back to me, but never did. 0/10 I was under the impression that we would have access to a hot tub, and that was part of the reason for booking my stay however it was under construction, completely emptied and roped off with caution tape—-which killed the vibe of the view from my room, not gonna lie. 1/10 I don’t recommend for the price it is.
