This is the email I wrote to the Arcadian Hotel: Moments ago at 3 AM, a security guard knocked on my door repeatedly, asking to see my ID to confirm if I still had one more night. While the guard himself was polite and professional, this was an extremely humiliating experience, especially since I had already explained the situation days earlier. Why would you have someone come to my doorstep at this time? You had all day to do it. You could've contacted my cell any part of the day and I would've answered. Two days prior, a manager came to my room, and I explained that we had switched rooms because the first one had blood on a towel (though all I asked for at the time was a clean towel, we were originally in TH210). Since then, I’ve told multiple staff members that our reservation was for four nights (August 15th–19th), yet I was still questioned in the middle of the night as if I wasn’t supposed to be here. To make matters worse, the second room came with its own issues, including a faulty AC unit that I had to call about twice before it was fixed. This combination of mistakes and miscommunication has made what should’ve been a relaxing vacation feel stressful and disappointing. Due to this inconvenience, I believe it’s only fair to be compensated with one or more nights refunded. At the very least, I don’t see why I should be expected to pay for my final night when I was treated as if I wasn’t welcome here.

A very odd hotel

Physically, this is the strangest hotel where I have ever stayed. It is sort-of 3 types of hotel stuck together: Normal 6-story hotel; plus both a remodeled old motel and a set of townhouses, both inside of an upscale warehouse. Our first night was in an interior room in the old motel section, which was VERY dark, and which had a toilet of the right height for a kindergarten. The next morning I asked if all of the rooms had child-height toilets, and the staff offered to move us to a room with a standard toilet. The rest of the stay was in the normal part of the hotel, on the 6th floor. That was much more comfortable and had an exterior window so we knew when it was morning. The other peculiar thing about the hotel was the cleaning service. Our room was apparently in the end-of-the-day cleaning rotation, which was fine. But the two days when we were actually out at that time of day, so the room available for cleaning, only one of the two beds was made. The first time we wondered if they ran out of time, but when the SAME BED was left untouched again the next day, we were just plain confused. Both days, the only obvious change was that there were clean towels in the bathroom and the trash baskets were emptied -- the counters and work surfaces still had everything in place as we left it. The breakfast was excellent, the staff were very friendly, the Green Line location was perfect, and we loved the diversity of the guests.

The hotel is located in a truly wonderful area, safe and very pleasant to walk around. The industrial-style interior is both interesting and beautiful, giving the hotel a unique charm. Breakfast was quite simple, mostly bread and drinks, not very diverse, though still enough to start the day. What I do want to highlight is the reception staff. Unfortunately, my experience here was not very positive. When I faced an issue with my payment (a duplicate transaction visible on my side), instead of providing clear support and reassurance, the staff seemed dismissive and impatient. At one point, one of them even walked away, looking visibly tired of my questions, while a colleague expressed sympathy only for him rather than for the guest’s concern. This dynamic made me feel unheard and undervalued, even though the problem was later resolved through the booking app and the amount was returned. Overall, the location and design are outstanding, but the approach of the reception staff left me with mixed feelings. In hospitality, empathy and attentive communication are just as important as style and comfort, and I truly hope the hotel can improve in this area.

Reasonable Hotel

The bed was very comfy. The front desk employees were top! However the cleaning team never replenished an extra roll of toilet paper and shampoo we had to ask 3 times. We would also like to suggest to change the low toilets in certain rooms. We had to ask them to change our room and they did. We just dont understand the low toilet concept. The location was very good to go downtown. Parking was practical but expensive. Price should be not more than $20 a day or included in hotel rates. If these things listed would improve we would possibly book again in future.

A great place to stay for a Sox game. The Green Line to Kenmore is right across the street and not crowded at all for a game night. There is a secure parking garage for a fee under the hotel but it fills up quickly. If you check in late there may not be any spaces left. There are no food options in the immediate area or onsite. The included breakfast is not great but will do in a pinch. We jokingly called it the bread buffet, a lot of toast, bagels and English muffins. When we checked in our room AC was broken and 90 degrees. The front desk clerk was super nice and quickly got us a new one. The AC in the new room worked well but was loud. The hotel itself was pretty quiet. I would stay here again.

This hotel is okay, but the first night we were in an interior room, horrible, like a jail cell. We moved to the fifth floor and it was better. I wouldn’t stay here again though. Poor shower pressure, gross soap, and a bit run down.
