I have stayed at this hotel for years. The change in ownership to Hilton has resulted in some changes. The staff remain friendly, patient and helpful. This includes the door/bellmen who are always kind and engaging. However this is the second visit where the checkin lines have been extremely long - seemingly understaffing the front desk at key times. The towels in the rooms have quite possibly shrunk and don’t seem to match the quality of the hotel. As a long (enough) time guest, I was disappointed they did away with massive gingerbread house that was a holiday centerpiece and tradition in the front lobby. My loyalty to the hotel and location remains. But I would be remiss if I didn’t note a couple of the changes I’ve seen since the days they were independently owned. Proximity to the Back Bay neighborhood, the Common, South End restaurants and other neighborhoods is ver convenient. And I will continue to stay here.
