This hotel/inn is probably one of the nicest in the world and stands above all others that we visited on our 12 day road trip through Scotland and England in August 2019. From the reception to the nice and communicative bar atmosphere to the silky linen, the jacuzzi (that worked) and the extraordinary breakfast (eggs Benedict), we felt transported onto a new level of comfort.
The String of Horses Inn is a bit isolated, so future travellers should have a little juice left in their smartphones, and use the direction assistance on the Hotels.com website to find this marvellous place. Also, wifi is not at its strongest, so go sit at the bar (17th century), rather than in your room!
Comfy warm bedroom and beds with bath and shower.
Lovely staff and good food and choice in the evening and breakfast.
Easy parking and nice snug bar area
Fantastic stay. Couldnât believe Sam recognised us as weâd only been once before several months ago! She is amazing at her job⊠bright, bubbly & so efficient. Tbh, all of the staff are lovely. Great rooms, very comfy bed & lovely breakfast. Will definitely be back again.
Absolutely amazing! We found this little gem quite by chance as a half way stop between Scotland and England! It was a fantastic experience and the charm of the 17th century building as well as the charming staff was absolutely perfect in every way. The food was incredible and quite unexpected!
We had a fantastic stay at the String of Horses. It is a beautifully renovated property in a lovely location. The staff were so friendly and the food was amazing.
Very friendly staff. Pleasant room. Lovely, specious en-suite with shelving for our toiletries. Delicious evening meal in the restaurant and generous breakfast. Would recommend.
