Amazing little town and really friendly and welcoming people especially at the royal oak. Thank you for everything it was awesome.
A plus for the breakfast
The building was old & in keeping with the ambience of the village. The room was quaint, clean & spacious. Dinner in the downstairs pub was delicious as was the full English breakfast. Would love to stay again & highly recommend it.
This was really good value for money. The staff were great, the food was great - breakfast wonderful! The room was spotless but a little tired. I travel a lot for work and always try to stay in local businesses not chains, this was a great local pub with rooms. Would definitely return
We found the staff friendly and accommodating.
The food was delicious both a Sunday lunch and the included breakfast.
The room was idea with separate access for a late return from a concert.
The room was spacious and also the en suite.
A lovely old property with plenty of character.
Many thanks to the Royal Oak . . . We would stay there again.
Hi, the rooms need to be refurbished, in particular the shower. Very week water pressure, it reminded me of bnbs from 20 years ago, the difference is these use to be ÂŁ20 so you could understand. Prices are now 4-5 times the price so the least you should get is a good shower.
Location was good: right in the middle of the town, which itself is a very expensive town (restaurants etc). We had a terrible night's sleep however because of several things:
There was a fire escape sign in the room which was on all through the night, illuminating the whole room up green!
There was a creaky door below the room at the entrance to the pub which creaked every time it was open. This woke us up at 7am as soon as the pub opened.
The room was cold and the radiator didn't work so they supplied an electric heater which was ok but we had to get under the covers to keep warm.
The breakfast was ok but quite a small portion.
Overall, this was the most affordable place we could find in the costwolds but we wouldn't stay again as we were both exhausted the next day from lack of sleep
