We drove about 5 hours to stay here, not realizing that it would be another hour to the city. From dallas to downtown san antonio would have been the same amount of time.
Nonetheless the place was relatively cozy and the hot tub was nice. Communication was quick and painless.
As far as criticisms: there were very few places to eat nearby, you're better off getting groceries and cooking yourself. The city is far, and the nicer hiking trails are out west. The house is also located pretty far off the main road behind some commercial garages.
Cleanliness could be improved, a lot of closets were full of clutter, the sink smelled pretty bad, and the house in general had an old smell to it.
I was surprised that we were requested to load the dishwasher and wash the towels for them along with making sure everything else was clean. I don't see the point of a $50 cleaning fee if we have to do all that, but seems like it's becoming the norm now to make guests do most of the cleaning.
Since we wanted to do the drive early in the morning, I asked if they would let us check in early. Most guests have no problem accommodating a slightly earlier checkout, but they wanted to charge us additional. They're in their right to do that, but it left a bad taste in our mouth to feel nickel and dimed. I would have preferred they just told us they could not due to some excuse.
San antonio was great but I'd probably stay elsewhere
