Our stay was wonderful. The hosts Sarah, Steve, Katie and Olivier were extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast was delicious and varied. The house was well furnished and very clean. The room was very spacious and comfortable. I would stay here over and over. The hosts were wonderful people. We felt at home with them.
Katy and Olivier are very attentive and made us so welcome. Our room was tasteful, comfortable and had everything we needed. Breakfasts were very good indeed. We could not fault our stay.
This property is like the Jewel in the Crown!!
Firstly, don't be put off by the small number of excellent reviews as it has only opened this year. The hosts, Katy and Olivier, were both working in England for many years at a high quality and popular hotel in the Yorkshire Dales. Katy's family owned this Yorkshire hotel and Olivier was the head chef. When the family sold the Hotel, Katy & Olivier returned to his native France and then the Maison du canal du midi was born. It's a beautiful old french house in Carcassonne with a spiral staircase leading to the three bedrooms on the first floor. (Don't worry about carrying your cases upstairs as Olivier is there to carry both ways.) You will be warmly welcomed and breakfasts are a real treat. Katy and Olivier will give you lots of advice. Truly, this is home from home. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable with new king size beds. Whilst the property doesn't have air conditioning they do have a supply of fans which kept my wife and myself nicely cool in temperatures approaching 40 degrees. You have access to the property at all times with an external key safe and just nothing is too much trouble for Katy and Olivier. Carcassonne is a most interesting place with it's star attraction being the 'The Cite' and it's rebuilding is a site well worth visiting. There is a little train available which takes you up and down from the Cite. If you are travelling to Carcassonne you won't regret staying at this property.
Katy and Olivier were great hosts. They were very helpful with suggestions for sight seeing and telling us of places of interest.
The breakfast was superb and we can recommend their B&B highly.
This was her close to the train station, the room was lovely, and the owners were so welcoming and kind. They allowed me to store my luggage while I visited the city.
Stayed a whole week and wish it was more! Without a doubt the best Chambre D'Hote/small hotel we have ever stayed in, anywhere in the world. Just 3 bedrooms, but beautifully appointed and with an amazingly comfortable bed! Breakfasts were extraordinary- different every day, but similar in that they were perfectly prepared with delicious fresh local produce. The property is literally on the bank of the Canal du Midi, 1 minute walk from the train station, a few minutes into town and 15 minutes walk to the Cite. But it was still quiet and peaceful. Katy and Olivier make you feel so at home and were full of recommendations on what to do, where to eat and how to have a great time in beautiful Carcassonne, which we certainly did. I would not hesitate to book again and look forward to doing so!
