Stayed November arrived at the cabin where the room temperature was 4 degrees (freezing!!) found two small electric heaters turned them on electric went off. Called reception who sent a staff member over where we were advised not to put the both heaters on at the same as cabin is close to the water so the trip switch would go off⊠ridiculous !!! So we were expected to run one tiny heater for the whole cabin and switch it off if we needed to use any other electrical appliance!!! Asked about the under floor heating only to be told it takes about four hours to heat up, and by the look on his face it was pretty pointless. we switched this on however it never came on throughout our stay. The bedroom was SO COLD we had to sleep in the living area with one small heater. Couldnât shower as the bathroom was freezing!!! We were thinking about leaving by 1am as we couldnât cope with how cold the cabin was. One small heater to warm and entire cabin while using no other electric applicants is simply ridiculous. I could have stayed at a spa hotel for the same price as Canada lodge was charging!! Arrived for breakfast after a very uncomfortable night only to find there was no coffee as there was an issue so the young girl was trying to boil kettles for all the guests!!! Sat down to eat something warm and yep you guessed it the food was also cold. We decided to check out early. Spoke to reception while handing in key and was told they would get back to me. Still waiting!!!
Everything was fantastic! All the staff were so friendly and helpful, a lovely room overlooking the lake, beautiful surroundings and a great breakfast too.
Gorgeous lake views. Room was huge, loads of space, very comfortable and stylish. Loads of tea and coffee, plus biscuits. Floor to ceiling patio doors to balcony let in so much light, but curtains kept it dark for sleeping. Stunning place, would definitely recommend and stay again.
Green light in room made it impossible to sleep. Lake had been drained and looked like a mud patch with no warning or discount. Breakfast was very limited.
About our stay.
They room and setting was lovely we couldnât have asked for a nicer place. However with red alert weather warning and the power cut from 1am, high winds tiles falling from the roof and no heating it soon became quite a stressful stay. This through no fault of yours of course this is something you cannot control.
We did become to get quite concerned as to how we would get home safety the next morning and were worried about traveling with our 6 year old son and for all our safety.
This is where I became very disappointed in the service received.
I messaged the out of hours number given to ask if if was possible to have a later check out due to the severe weather warning. And asked if breakfast would still be served due to no electricity,
The response I got was this -
Good morning sorry for the disruption unfortunately we have no power across the entire site. Regrettably we are unable to extend your check out as we have wedding guests arriving however you are more than welcome to wait out the storm in rhodris. A cold breakfast of cereal and yogurt is also available at rhodris. Please pop over to the office if you require any further information.
We did go down to Rhodris. We were greeting by 2 staff member sat by the fire. Considering breakfast was between 7.30 - 10 and it was no 9.15 there was nothing set out and we had to ask. We knew there was only going to be cold items due to the electricity. We were served cereal and yogurts the yogurts were o
Hi lovely place but as we went to get in to bed we found a lot of hairs all over sheets and as a result we slept on the duvet and went to have a shower also hair all in the bath lovely place just not clean and for the money you would expect more
You were so kind and understanding when i asked for early check in on Tuesday.
What you didnt know, was my back had my health were in trouble, i needed to lay down and rest before a concert.
You appeared to take one look at my stressed out face and you were amazing, ko questions asked.
Room was beautiful, food was.fantastic and the grounds were incredible.
Many thanks.
Stayed in cabin 3, and despite reading some recent negative reviews, we were very happy with the room. It was clean, well stocked and the view over the lake in the morning was amazing. Breakfast was very nice and had lots of variety. Our only small gripe was the beds werenât particularly comfortable. Mattresses are subjective and we were only there 1 night. Would definitely recommend and will be looking to stay there again. Itâs also only 25 minutes from Cardiff centre.
Such a lovely place to stay so peaceful just over 6 miles from Cardiff . The lodge was right beside the lake and was spotless .Breakfast was really good ! Only stayed one night but didn't want to leave đ hopefully we will be back.
