Convenient location for city centre, friendly and helpful staff. The hotel had forgotten to set up the camp bed in the family room with 2 children, after speaking to reception this was resolved in 15 mins. As others have mentioned in reviews the decor is a bit tired, but rooms and bathrooms were clean, double beds comfy, and towels white and fluffy

It was cheap and close to the arena so you get what you pay for. Beds were comfy enough, tv worked and staff were friendly. The hotel is in dire need of a renovation, especially the bathroom which was clean but very tired.

Lovely staff & location but very tired & dated

Really friendly staff and great location. Nice and clean throughout. Bag drop was really efficient. However, pls don’t believe the photos as it’s a very tired hotel throughout and the bedrooms (we had 2, so a fair sample) are very worn with old decor and dirty bedroom windows that hadn’t been cleaned for years. Also the bar had v slow service - a nice lady when she was there, but two lots of guests waited several minutes to be served before leaving empty handed as the staff member was absent for extended periods. We expected more for the cost. Dated decor the staff’s fault, it’s the senior management that need to seriously invest money to turn this (wonderful old) building around.

The room was a great size and fine but the hotel is really tired and old and in need of a refurb. Windows opened in room which was nice. One of the lifts was “over heated” and out of services for a bit which made me take the stairs! Staff were very nice.

Booked 2 single rooms for myself and a friend. One room was changed as it smelt heavy of smoke. The new room offered had issue with the tv not working. And 2 of the lights did not work. The receptionist popped up but could not tune it in so wasn’t able to watch Glastonbury . Quite disappointing as we paid a good rate.

Wouldn’t stay again.

We were given a room to begin with that had six stairs to go down to it. I had a wheelchair with me so had to call down and moved rooms. At first glance the room looked alright. Then we started noticing the windows were filthy, we moved a bed to find dirt under it. The other had dirt and eyelash glue under there. The light shades are all dirty on top and one was broke. Went for a shower in the morning to find the holder for the shower broke and the ring on the shower to change spray pressure fell off. I had booked for breakfast but when went down we were told we hadn’t so couldn’t have breakfast. Needing to eat to take my pills I always book breakfast. Overall I wouldn’t recommend till they have had a refit of the rooms. As you can see the pictures I took are not like the ones they advertise on here.

Done the job!

Check in was fantastic, the lady was friendly, polite and very informative. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It was just a bit dated. The bathroom had recently been tiled by the looks of it but some areas were in need of a bit of updating. There was no air conditioning but we could open the window slightly which was great and there was a fan. It did get very stuffy in the night! Breakfast was disappointing, my expectations weren’t too high for a 3* hotel, the food was ok, I was told I could order scrambled or boiled eggs but then when I asked for scrambled egg I was told the kitchen was closed! People were being turned away from breakfast, being told it was finished even though it wasn’t 10 o’clock. The 2 waitresses were not at all helpful. I booked this hotel for the location as we had a concert in the castle, it served a purpose but probably wouldn’t rush back!

Ideal for Principality or Castle Events

First off, the location of this hotel is unbeatable if you are attending events at Principality Stadium (especially entry gates 2 & 3) or the Castle. There are plenty of shops, bars & restaurants all within a 10 minute walk. The staff were lovely & helpful (especially Joey on reception), & we had breakfast included rate, which was fine for us (it had cereals, cheese & meat, yogurt, fruit, croissants, juice & full English items - we don't eat meat so can't comment on that, but what we had was good & set us up well for the day). We didn't eat otherwise at hotel (as so many restaurants nearby), but they have room service, bar&restaurant on site. There is no parking,so if you need this, book in advance on JustPark (there are nearby options or a Sainsbury's which is around £2 per 24 hours, the Uber is around £8 each way, but still LOADS cheaper if there's an event on). My daughter & I had a twin room suite, 327, which was huge. The rooms are quite dated but clean, the beds are comfy, they provided fans to help with heat, it was good to have our own sitting area & toiletries were good. The room was surprisingly quiet given the location. If I was being fussy, the sofa could be comfier & one sash window in lounge (one furthest from bedroom) was noisy (rattling) due to the wind, but we sorted this by using a towel & it didn't keep us awake. Given the price paid as everywhere had increased prices due to Lana Del Rey, who we were here to see, I felt it offered really good value overall

Front has stairs. No sign for the lift which was located on the side of the building. Old people were dragging their luggages on the stairs, and nobody's advised them. We asked, and only then that they pointed to the lift.

Reception were excellent and helpful on arrival.The hotel has lifts which was great as my case was heavy.We had a family room, a huge bed in one room and twins in the other room.It was very spacious and plenty of room.Both rooms had t.v.’s but we couldn’t get them to work so maybe needed new batteries in remote.The bedside lamps didn’t work in the kingsize bedroom either.The lighting was very poor in the rooms and the furniture and bathroom very dated but overall we would stay again.Breakfast was very good, buffet style with lots to choose from and couldn’t fault it.Checking out was very quick and easy.A pleasant stay at the angel hotel.
