The cottage is located on a beautiful lot. Campfire lovers will be spoiled, as there are two outside, as well as a wood stove inside. Entrance was smooth amd pre-arranged with our host. The cottage is small, but expertly decorated and laid out. The beds were comfortable, so was the reclining couch. The entire place was spotless and inviting. Communicating with the host was easy, and he replied quickly to my messages.
It may be a bit far from Ottawa, but the drive is beautiful and easy. Super worth it! I'll definitely be renting from Christopher again.
This was a beautiful location, the lake was fantastic and the water was very clear. We enjoyed the cottage; it was well equipped and the outdoor space was gorgeous. We used the kayaks and the floating island per Chris's instructions and the kids loved it. We were there during a heatwave, thankfully there is a portable air conditioning unit that kept us from being uncomfortable. Great support from the host, he made sure we had all the information we needed before our stay. Highly recommend!
Overall we had a good experience, mostly due to the location/outdoor experience.
The lake was beautiful. We enjoyed the dock and kayaks.
The grounds were spacious and the fire pit with fire wood was a benefit.
The deck and outdoor seating area were another highlight.
However, the cottage itself was okay.
It was very superficially cleaned on arrival (many of the garbage cans had garbage in them, some garbage under the couch). There was also a lot of food already in the refrigerator which took some organizing as we had brought a lot of food with us. The kitchen was stocked but there were some old/damaged items (a few bowls that were cracked and leaking).
The wifi was quite slow. I had specifically asked about this prior to booking as one of the members of the group needed to work and was assured by the host that it would be capable of things like video calls/meetings. However, it is slow and was challenging to work remotely.
There is no air conditioning. There were 3 floor fans, one of which had a broken base. It was quite hot at times.
Overall we loved the area and lake but the cottage itself was underwhelming.
The cottage was a perfect size for 4 people. We had everything we needed for a great stay. Nice big deck and the hot tub help with the relaxation. Lots of wood on hand for toasty fires inside and out.
Chris the owner was amazing. Accommodating, flexible, easy to talk to and the location, it was fabulous. I rented this unit to attend my son's wedding. I look forward to renting it in the future to enjoy just because.
The stay was wonderful and Christopher was a great host! Our family reconnected on this trip without electronic devices and television.
The lake is beautiful and the Lilly pad was so much fun. It was clean, quiet and relaxing in the spa at the end of the day was a highlight. The outdoor space was our main area and I must say we loved every minute. Thank you!
A great small cottage for a get away. Well thought out and hot tub on the deck, lots of cut firewood, up to date appliances, comfortable beds...glad we went...will consider for summer season as well.
This property will be ideal for your weekend getaways, to reconnect with silence and stillness. Its proximity to Lake Cayamant will make those short walks you will take in the area very scenic and pleasant. This small cottage has a perfectly equipped kitchen: we had everything we needed in the kitchen to cook healthy meals for fours days during the Thanksgiving long weekend. We loved the hot tub, and the wood stove kept us warm and cozy in the evenings. Dreamy.
The people in the area are also quite welcoming. There are so nice hikes you will be to take too.
Would definitely recommend!
I spent a great week at the cottage. All amenities were as described and in working order. Great hot tub right on the deck, being screened in from mosquitoes was a great touch. We enjoyed the deck fireplace as well for small quiet evening campfires.
Note, there is a little walk to the water area. (2 min) A large beautiful dock with seating at the end of the dock was confortable. It is in full sun. I had brought a parasol for shade but there was a good wind so we werent able to use it. There is a small walk in/beach to the water (very shallow) available to swim or launch kayaks/floaties. I would recommend water shoes as there are some clams on the river bed.
Christopher was a great host and quick to respond to any questions we had.
I would definately return.
Everything was has described, great for a girls weekend! Well appointed kitchen , comfy chairs and beds. Loved the wood burning fireplace and the fire pit and hot tub . My only note is that the hot tub was due for a cleaning /treatment. But still enjoyed !
We had a wonderful weekend visit to the cabin. It was very clean, and the check-in/entry process was exactly as described in the communication from the host. He provided a helpful guide for the property and surrounding area, including his contact information (which we didn't need during our stay, since everything was as promised). We were able to get the cabin nice and cozy with the woodstove, and it was great to come in after a soak in the hot tub. Although our stay was in winter, it is a short walk to the lake, so summer stays would likely be lots of fun.
Nice and quiet location, actual building much smaller than pictures lead you to believe.
It was a relaxing couple days, for honest feedback, I would have liked to not have been surprised at how small the rental was. Having said that, once I got over the initial surprise my wife and I enjoyed the stay. The price was fair, and the hot tub was relaxing after a nice walk along the shoreline road. The lake is actually across the street from the cottage, so there isnât much view from the deck, but again, itâs clear my expectations were set a little to high. Overall the price was fair, and the time relaxing. Our thanks to Chris for the use of his cottage.
