We were amazed by the property! This house is a piece of Charlevoix history. Our stay was comfortable and a privilege in this one of a kind residence. Thevowner gave us the ifo we needed to access tge home and enjoy our stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful mushroom house! How interesting to see/experience Earl Youngâs residence! Shawn was a great host! He was very responsive and accommodating! The home was clean, organized and very comfortable. The location was perfect and the views were lovely!
This house was amazing! It made our yearly girl's trip to Charlevoix extra special. The home had such unique and extraordinary architecture it made you feel all the history and magic of Charlevoix. The homes decor and amenities were first class-JUST WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!
Location was great, walking to the beach, shops and restaurants.
The house was awesome, unique, clean, comfortable, very nice all around.
We would love to come back for another memorable vacation.
We loved this mushroom house. It had everything we could have needed - very comfortable beds, linens, kitchen well stocked, and that patio!!! We love Charlevoix & this house was close to town. We walked everywhere. Would definitely come back.
The house certainly had some unique architectural features. For the 3 couples, the layout was okay but not great. To access one bedroom, we had to go through another bedroom. The kitchen was a true galley kitchen and was somewhat claustrophobic. But we enjoyed our visit which was mostly positive.
The history, the comfort, the cleanliness, the location, the decorâŠall were perfect. This is a very charming place to stay. You feel the history but with all the modern conveniences. We particularly liked the magnificent living room fireplace and the outdoor patio area. Communication with the host and information provided were all wonderful. We enjoyed exploring the town and loved Terryâs for dinner and Smoke on the Water for breakfast. We were disappointed in the Weathervane Restaurant but loved seeing Earlâs fireplace. We would definitely love to come back.
We enjoyed our stay and the uniqueness of the mushroom house. Beautiful lake view! Quiet lovely street.
Many â mushroom tourâ buses went by daily and were interested in our houseâŠkind of fun at first but became a little annoying. We felt we couldnât go outside without someone looking at us.
Also only the master bedroom was air conditioned. We had two couples so one stayed in master and the other in the bedroom on the other end of the house. It wasnât air conditionedâŠour week of stay the temperatures were in the upper 80s. They had many fans running when we got there but unfortunately we never could really get the house temp on one side below 78. Very warm and humid inside.
Overall we enjoyed our stay in the mushroom houseâŠcouldnât beat the lovely historic street and beautiful view of Lake Michigan.
This was a great place for us. The mid-Century modern appointments are beautiful and the location is excellent -- close to town and steps away from the Lake Michigan beach and pier. But the bedroom configuration is extremely odd and won't work for many groups. We had two couples and one stayed in the bedroom with the twin beds to achieve privacy. Please read the property description carefully before you book.
The historic, unique house is a treat. Yes, it has its quirks (low ceilings, some small rooms) but the living room and patio are great gathering places, and the location is unbeatable.
What an amazing property! We had the best girls weekend, touring the area , walking the beach, and then rafting the Jordan River.
We loved loved loved this house! So much charm.
Plenty of room for the 6 of us girls!
Also close to town so we could walk to local shops and dining.
This charming property has it all! Itâs in a great location, the view is incredible, and the owner has thought of everything to elevate your stay to ensure everyone is comfortable and even feels a little spoiled (that fireplace is the thing of dreams). On top of that, youâre literally staying in a place with such a special historical significance, but with enough modern touches to make it feel that much more special. We are already making plans to make a visit to this house a yearly tradition.
Lovely property/home; Plenty of room. Kitchen was a little cozy. But it was hardly an issue. Lots of unique details to enjoy. This was the 3rd mushroom house I've stayed at. It did not disappoint the slightest.
This place is awesome! The hosts are very responsive and the property is lovely. This is an original Earl Young property and served as his own home for many decades as such the house is very interesting. The house was clean and well maintained so we had a very comfortable stay. The location is lovely with easy (walkable) access the downtown Charlevoix and the beach is literally across the street. We found it a little challenging to have to walk through our grown daughter's bedroom to access the master bedroom, but that was not a deal breaker. The fact that it was summer and we could spend most of our home time on the fabulous back deck was a true plus. We are bikers and enjoyed taking the Little Traverse Wheelway to Petoskey.
Great unique home at a great location. Loved just spending to in the home, on the back patio and on the Adirondack chairs in front. Highly recommended.
