Lovely hotel, close to the racecourse, close to the shops, easy to visit beautiful city, first time visitor, lovely views from top floor, air con was perfect, staff were friendly and helpful. Only downside was no tourist information in the room, or any information about the hotel.
The hotel has a brilliant location. The staff were all professional and super friendly, from the receptionist to housekeeping to the restaurant. Perfect little break Thank-you

Disliked: Cleanliness, amenities
We recently stayed at the Abode, expecting a luxury stay, as that seems to be its reputation. We paid extra for a deluxe room, which was larger and had a great view of the racecourse.
But we felt the room was very basic. There weren’t any plug sockets by the bed, only the other side of the room by the desk.
The bathroom lights would flicker on and off occasionally. The antislip mat in the bath was covered in black mould.
The general fixtures and fittings needed some attention too. The shower rail on the bath screen was loose, the toilet roll holder was loose. Generally it felt like everything needed a refresh.
The bed was very comfortable, though and the room was pretty clean.
The hotel was very clean and comfortable. An easy walk from the city centre and the city walls
were accessible from across the road.
Th hotel was quiet and had friendly reception staff.
Room was a standard and was very comfortable for my stay
Always lovely and polite staff, location to the center and also the races is perfect. The only downside to this hotel is the charges for parking,at £20 per night i think this is to much, even if you have a blue badge you still have to pay the fee.
Great stay. Very clean and a good location. Great views of the racecourse from the bar terrace. Breakfast was lovely and fantastic service. Will definitely return.
Poor maintenance for the bathroom & hot tub
I have got hot tub folliculitis after staying this hotel. Now I’m having the tablet for three days, the skin is still itchy and red. Very poor experience.
Really enjoyed my stay, the staff were amazing, only issue (very minor) is the towels weren't the best. The material comes off and sticks to your skin. Other than that, I will gladly book another stay in the future.
Very dark in our room. I didnt have a bright light to di my make up as i was unable to stand in the bathroom
The outside area over looking rhe racecourse is a beautiful setting but would of been better if there wasnt cigarette ends on the chippening. We moved the ashtry off our table when we sat down and when we went for breakfast my husband said it was still there.
Beds are very low and it is a good job we are as an older age as the one foot of the bed is broken.
Wasnt pleased with the dust behind the bathroom door.
A fridge with milk would be great.
I didnt want to pay £2.50 for a warm carton of water.
Breakfast was unusual as we had toast then asked main meal. I really fancied fruit
The hotel was fine and the room was clean and spacious. The issue was breakfast, considering there weren’t a lot of people dining.
Our order was eventually taken, and after waiting quite some time, I watched a waiter ( he was new apparently) take a breakfast to a guy on his own. The guy mentioned to the waiter the eggs were missing! I then thought ‘ was that my husbands breakfast?’ A lady who seemed to be in charge then bought the man’s breakfast with eggs and she took the wrong breakfast away looking puzzled.
Another waiter came and asked if everything was ok and I said No, we are waiting for our food order. He then came back with the plate that the man on the next table had been given and the food was cold ! I took the plate to another member of staff and asked for a fresh, hot plate of food and also my order.
They eventually came and we asked for more toast but that didn’t arrive, so we left.
I would hate to see how they cope with a full restaurant!
