Room needed hoovering on arrival which was addressed immediately
Point out a potential trip regarding a rug a dresser on our departure
Felt the check out time was too early at 10.00am and expensive @ £15.00 to extend check out

Clean rooms. Sadly 38 steps on the stairs to my room which was near the top of the hotel and no lift! Situated central to Chester which I found convenient but some might find the night time noise a nuisance. No parking on site which again might prove difficult for anyone with mobility issues. Pleasant stay but if I stayed again I’d make sure if a ground floor room.
Pied bull in a good location. Room was ample for a one night stay. Good choice of cask ales in the pub fur the other half. Staff friendly and polite. Didnt eat there so cant comment on the food. Would definitely return if wanting a stopover in chester again.
Location great, staff friendly and helpful and food really good,
Unfortunately the first room we were given was poor despite the fact we had upgraded to a superior room and due to the hotel being full we couldn’t be moved on our second day we were moved to a much better room and did enjoy our stay
Would recommend this hotel

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Great pub, accommodation not so good. Breakfast chaotic & unpleasant. Room was the size of a shoebox.
Lovely room, with a four poster bed, staff were all very friendly and welcoming, a nice touch by the way the towels displayed on the bed and a personalised note.
We booked the pied bull for our wedding anniversary.
Clearly noted on the booking, their website shows amazing rooms with claw foot baths and exquisite food.
We arrived nothing even mentioned more interested in making sure they had the debit payment and waiver about wonky steps covered. I understand they might not be interested in iur specual occasion but it was important enough to us to note it on our booking messages.
Room was mediocre at best ( for a superior double we expected more) no bath ( apparently these were different rooms) it smelt of damp but we put this down to the age of the property.
However the noise from the street was horrendous for our room, whenever they emptied bottle's or got barrel deliveries it was like it was right by our window and everyone walking past at all hours of the night could be heard as if they were in the room.
The menu we looked at online was not what we were given and so the meals we thought we would choose weren't available.
If you have mobility issues be aware there are steps to all rooms and some up 3-4 flights if stairs.
Only saving grace were the bar and serving staff who were lovely but when trying to engage about the history of the place and other old buildings nearby they didn't seem interested and seemed to zone out and not engage in the enthusiasm at all.
Great location and proper English style Country pub. Friendly and welcoming, good range of beers, wines and spirits. Food superb particularly the full English breakfast. Room spacious and comfortable with modern shower and bathroom. All round too stay, thanks.
This was a perfectly fine hotel. Had a room that was outside access down the side road. Lots of road noise from bin men starting around 3 am, and drunks prior to that. All survivable and in the city.
The room was fine - a bit worn, and the bed was a bit old feeling, but fine.
Restaurant was good - I didn’t eat - but I had a drink and it was nice.

Loved the ambience and history
Great food at restaurant. Lounge area /pub comfortable to relax at anytime of day. Loved the Beer Garden. Very friendly staff , very relaxed vibe. You can feel the history throughout the building. Stairs are old so not great for anyone too young or too old. Not sure if there was air conditioning but we didn’t need it in September. Thanks for a great stay.
