Really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was spacious, clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was excellent value. Its right next to the station and easy to park if you have driven (extra cost), but about a 15 min walk into town centre. I loved that the hotel is Victorian, grand style, with lovely period design features. Very good value overall.

Really great hotel and very friendly staff let down by poor housekeeping the second and third days we only received 1 towel and we also ran out of hand soap which was topped up slightly to tide us over but we ran out again so it was never checked and marks on units never cleaned mess on floors never hoovered and bed not made properly

Bar well stocked, wine reasonably priced. Staff very professional. We had a club sandwich for lunch which was well worth the money. I had steak in the evening which was very good my wife had lamb which was again very good. Breakfast was a different matter. We expected a buffet breakfast but it was empty, asked to sit and an order will be taken. We both ordered full English with poached eggs, they arrived 2 minutes later, mine minus the egg which was brought on a side plate. The plate was greasy the food was barely warm not great we couldn't eat it all. We had a couple of pastries and some fruit which was see throgh thin. Our Superior room was clean, spacious and minimalistic and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom again was clean, tidy and stocked. Overall a good visit. The hotel has changed a lot since we were last here. Mostly good. Would we return...yes we will.
