First of all, this was a sweet apartment in a stunning section of Chicago. We did not spend much time in the apartment, but it was clean and private. The surrounding area is filled with gorgeous homes.
Please consider the following before booking:
1) The bed was comfortable but the futons were horrendous. They were narrow and did not unfold to lie flat. The adult who slept on one ended up with a back ache. Describing this as suitable for 4 is inaccurate. In fact, there were only 2 chairs for the dining table. I would not recommend booking for more than 2.
2) My biggest disappointment was in the host. We arrived to the rental in a construction zone, yellow tape and all. The next morning, we were awakened by the entire apartment shaking due to construction work on the sidewalk area in front of the house. I sent an annoyed message to the host who responded by saying he had no prior notice of the work. No apologies.
3) During our stay, the toilet became clogged after using it properly. We asked for a plunger and it was delivered to the apartment. Since there was a bit of overflow after the flush, we wiped up with towels. The bathroom is old, by the way, with a sink stopper that doesn't work as well.
4) We did not complain through any of this. I thought we should receive a partial refund for living in a construction zone, but did not mention it. Instead, I found recently that I was charged $ 59.00 for bath linens (due to their old toilet) and $ 50 early arrival (of one hour).
5) I have never written a negative review on this site. But I am so tired of people who care only about making as much money as possible.
If you are looking for a cute apartment for 2 in a beautiful section of Chicago and you don't care about a greedy host, I'm sure you will enjoy your stay.
