We had a wonderful time staying here. Having 3 full baths was fantastic and let everyone get ready at the same time. The only thing to mention that other reviews have mentioned as well is that the stairs are quite steep but we did not have any trouble with them.
The neighborhood was fabulous. Varied and wonderful restaurants and bars. Near the Red line and Brown line L-stops, and an easy walk to Lincoln Park and the lake. Walking distance of a grocery. A wonderful location to seeing much of Chicago.
Overall, our stay was great! Checking in and out was easy and speedy, and the location is fantastic for those who like to spend time downtown (the property is within walking distance of the Brown and Red lines). A garage space was greatly appreciated for those who would drive, but traveling to/from OâHare on the L was easy. We (6 adults) enjoyed our time and the neighborhood.
The house was just as advertised. It was easy to get in and out of and having a garage is a huge bonus. The house was well appointed with everything you would need. Good selection of pots and pans and kitchen ware. Beware if you have elderly travelers or travelers with mobility issues (we did not) there are a lot of stairs. The closets were amazing with so much shelving and hanging space it was easy to unpack and not feel cramped living out of a suitcase. The beds and pillows were comfortable and having two en-suite bathrooms was very nice. The third bedroom was off a sliding glass door that opened right into the courtyard which for us wasnât an issue but if you have nervous travelers (big city and all) it could be a problem. Also the lower level bedroom did not have access to a bathroom without climbing stairs. We did have issues with the ceiling fan light in the lower level bedroom (it didnât work) so ended up taking a lamp from another room for that area. We also had issues with the toilet off the kitchen that was running when we arrived and periodically would run after flushing. The layout of the house made visiting and eating meals very enjoyable. We were within walking distance of all the places we love (Lincoln park, the beach, the zoo) We would definitely stay there again!
Very expensive for what it was, but location was great.I received multiple requests for selfie with ID with blank email fields to send it to. I was also not comfortable providing this information by a non-secure and encrypted means. They reported their verification platform was down so they needed the selfie, again wasn't comfortable. They said I could block out address, ID number and DOB so I finally. Their communications through this process were very slow and they would reply by email when I communicated through the VRBO app. I only received the check info by the day of arrival.
Overall we had a great stay. Things to know before you book. 1.The garage does not fit a minivan or a full sized SUV. The garage was a selling point for us on the rental and our mini-van simply did not fit. The signs say they will ticket you for street parking without a permit. We parked anyway because there were no other options but did not get ticketed. 2.The stairs are steep. They have great tread and we have older kids so it was fine but I'm glad I didn't do this stay with littles. 3.The neighborhood was great and we felt very safe. A short walk to the metro which was far enough to not be too loud but close enough to Brown and Red to be convenient. Walkable to Target. Not much food within walking distance though. 4.Check-out procedures were simple and not overly cumbersome which makes the end of the stay much nicer. 5.Space was comfortable and and clean. Space was as advertised except for garage. They provided basic shower supplies and enough towels. Washer and dryer are so nice to have!
This worked out well for us. Good location. A small hiccup with the garage door but the property manager worked with the host and resolved it quickly. Thank you.
Overall, the house was comfortable with nice seating. There was a television but with a cord that could not be plugged in as there was no outlet by it.The upstairs bedrooms were roomy and comfortable, but these also required that we walk up steeper type steps- as it was an older home which was fine for our group. The lower bedroom was kind of scary as it led to the garage and a set of doors led to the patio. One guest was not comfortable with this. We had a pleasant stay and the directions to get to the house were easy to follow with stores nearby that we could walk to.
The house is located in a neighborhood that is easily walkable and has anything you need within walking distance. Metro is located within a few blocks of the house and makes getting around easy.
Stayed here for a week while attending a festival and central downtown location was good. Having the garage was very helpful but suggest you have a small car as the garages are very shallow. Common area with kitchen and TV is very spacious for lounging
Great location so convenient to everything! Great to have a garage to park. Also, great to have the 2 bedrooms with their own bathrooms! Property met our needs. It was not dirty but was not as clean as it could have been. (Mainly the floors) Overall the house worked great for us!
Lovely Little Carriage House in an Up and Coming Neighborhood
This is a very nice property in an up and coming neighborhood. The house is multilevel with three spacious bedrooms (two with ensuite bathrooms). As a bonus, the house has a garage opening onto an alleyway. Everything was very clean, bright and well appointed. The property is located in an up and coming neighborhood very convenient to good el lines and only a couple of blocks from a wonderful coffee place we used every day during our stay. Everything with the property went well and we would stay there again. Thank you for a wonderful place!
We had a wonderful stay at this property. Three bedrooms AND three bathrooms made it very comfortable for my friends and me. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. The house was just as expected - clean, spacious and well-appointed.
