A lovely spiral staircase, a real feature of the property, leads you to two bedrooms and a modern bathroom. The property sleeps up to four adults in a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, both of which have a TV and plenty of character. The property is aptly named Ghillie’s Cottage due to its links to the fishing rights on the River Derwent that are owned by the family. A ghillie being a person who acts as an attendant to someone on a hunting expedition, or in this case, a fishing trip. The River Derwent is a highly sought after river amongst anglers providing rich pickings of salmon and trout. As long as you have a National Rod Licence you may fish on the family’s beat. Cockermouth is a thriving market town full of hidden surprises at every turn. It boasts a great selection of pubs, quaint restaurants, micro-breweries, local craft shops, independent coffee houses, delicatessens, speciality shops and of course, well known retailers and branded stores too.
