Comfortable weeklong stay. Good rooms, friendly staff, clean washrooms. Location also quite decent. Some really nice trails nearby. A bus stop nearby and ample parking for guests
The location is perfect with many eateries a stones throw away. The staff is very warm and welcoming and the beds are super comfy. Lived the cosy and comforting vibe of the hostel.
Great location, lovely, well equipped hostel. The only thing I would change is the lack of plug points. All the beds had USB ports but none for actual plugs, there was only one in our dorm and a few others dotted around the hostel. Not everyone has a charger with a USB and if you're heading out for a day in the hills you need all devices fully charged for safety
Staff were all very friendly, unfortunately due to Covid no food available at moment but your with in 5 minutes by foot from village centre where numerous food opportunities available.
A great location for loads of walks on the doorstep so no need to take and park the car elsewhere. Walking distance to shops, pubs, restaurants, take-away and Coniston Lake. Friendly and helpful staff and a nice clean place.
Over thirty pounds for a bed in a dormitory - without breakfast. You've got to be having a laugh, right? Nope. Britain's young people are being priced out of the YHA. When I pointed this out to the receptionist, he said: you could always camp instead. Isn't this missing the point?
No sockets to charge phones although extension lead provided...beds and washing facilities clean and functional and breakfast plenty of and up to high standard hostel a long way out though even though near village
A solo walking trip...used YH Holly Howe as my base. Comfy beds, great breakfast, handy self-use kitchen and lovely helpful staff - will deffo be back!
My trip was for a few days walking in the hills around Coniston. I would happily give 5 star reviews for all elements because for me the experience provided everything I expected and more. However that would not be fair to the reader should anyone take notice of my review. The location, facilities and service were perfect for me. However closer inspection would reveal very basic sleeping arrangements and some rather dated and perhaps one could say shabby decoration in the dormitory to which I was assigned. However for the cost to me for the facilities I did not anticipate perfection. The breakfast provided was first class and there are more than adequate facilities to enjoy reading or games etc and a well stocked bar. The location is ideal for access to the facilities provided in the town.
Hostel at the base of a small mountain, brilliant for walks. The Hostel also has camping options available at a cheaper than surrounding campsites amount per night, available on both on front and back grounds of the building. Though not a star spot the grounds are rather nicely kept. Do keep an eye out for the odd sheep. The building itself is massive and contains both its own lounge and tv room, huge self-serving kitchen, and a wide option of toilets and shower stalls scattered throughout. Rooms old but kept together, also including beautiful surrounding views which feel like a blessing to wake up to.
It was alright.i made the booking last minute. For the price its not worth. Should include breakfast. We couldn't get Internet working. Its the worst Internet ever.i believe there's only one access point to entire hotel and its only reachable in one main lobby. I thought stay was overpriced. Staff was good. Nothing to complain about staff.
