I hate having to leave a negative review as this was a return trip for us to this resort and we enjoyed our stay before. This time, however, we were extremely disappointed. First, the A/C could not keep up with the humidity, so everything in our room felt damp the whole time. There was always only one pool available, except for the last day of our stay, when they finally had both of them open. They did not have a lunch or dinner buffet available, like the last time we were there... so only had access to a very limited menu. We had dinner at the on-site restaurant only once, because the A/C wasn't functioning and it was 100 degrees in there. But the deal breaker for me was when one of the staff just opened our door at 10 pm without knocking, even though we had the Do Not Disturb on the door! Most of the staff are extremely friendly and helpful and you can't beat the water there, but I'm afraid we won't be returning. Several of the promised amenities that we had paid for were not functioning and a staff member breached our room unannounced and management did nothing to "resolve the issue" besides offering to change our room and an apologize for the inconvenience.

The room i was in had a good view but the furniture was old and looked like it had bugs. Maintenance came to fix dresser and toilet. There was no phone in the room so i had to go to front desk for anything. Front desk handed out beach towels and everything else besides checking in people too on same line.

El Coz has one of the nicest beaches and has excellent snorkeling, as well as other activities. We've been going here for over 20 years and always thoroughly enjoy our stay. It is getting older and in need of a face-lift but the staff are like family and always take great care of us.

RUN ! No AC only the fan blowing but no cold air . Hot water was hit and miss . Turn on the faucet and nothing would come out . We played the game and had front desk send maintenance the first 2 days , the third day we insisted on a room change , we had hot water but also got ants crawling all over the bed and still no AC. Finally cut our losses and left. Went Next door to the Westin and EVERYTHING was absolutely wonderful. I even had to turn the AC up ! It was to cold in our room !!!

I like the old fashion Mexican style design of the Resort, & this place was perfect. Loved the private beach area & the beautiful sunsets. The rooms are nice & roomy but the mattress in room 1507 really needs to be replaced, felt like sleeping on a box spring.

When booking El Cozumeleno travelers should keep in mind this is an older property. Our room (1702) a/c never kept up and it was always warm in our room. The view, the snorkeling from the resort and the incredible staff made up for that one problem. This was our second visit and we would choose this location again.

This was our first time staying there and we would definitely stay there again. Certainly need some upkeeping with the pools. Would be nice if you could get some of the humidity out of the actual rooms but the air conditioning is set to not go lower than a certain point. The staff was all amazing. The views make it all worth it.

Great property overall. We utilized the pool daily, had great wait staff serving plenty of drinks and food. The birds at the buffet were pretty aggressive so we opted to eat in the restaurant each night. The dress code for men to wear pants needs to be changed. (Who brings dress pants to the beach! Nice shorts should be acceptable.)

It’s was okay, but floors in the room were slippery. I am not sure what they use on but they need reevaluate the way they clean the floors or the chemicals they use. Some of the property maintenance was a little overdue. Our room had a closet door issue and the doors wouldn't stay on the track. The AC smelled of mildew. The toilet ran unless we jiggled the handle. The bathroom faucet handle had one particular spot where you could get it to stop running. Everyone that worked here made up for what the building was lacking. All servers and hosts were gracious and accommodating. I hope we go back, just to see the staff again! Bottomless margaritas and the beautiful Caribbean! Thank you, Jaime for being a lovely host in the restaurant.

The pools were filthy… I ordered room service and it never came…. We didn’t have any running water for hours the AC was loud and didn’t work well… no wash clothes…. Birds will steal your food… I wouldn’t recommend it… definitely not going back… but the island was nice
