Had a 2 night stay in this charming Oast house. Alan, the owner was there to greet us & was very accommodating. He gave us a tour of the property & showed us where everything was. As it was a rainy, chilly evening, he was kind enough to offer to light a fire for us, which we took him up on. The house was in a lovely setting with nice views of the countryside. It was cosy and comfortable and very clean with a well stocked kitchen, which had everything that we needed. It had a lovely relaxed feel to it with touches of old charm. We all loved it and didn't want to leave!.
The property was very well equipped and there is even an electric car charging point. The location is excellent with Hastings (fish market, beach and the old town); Battle Abbey (excellent and enjoyed by the smaller and larger people); Rye (one of the Cinque ports, Waterworks brewery); and the Kent and East Sussex Railway (to Bodium Castle). Alan, our host, was very helpful.
Highly recommended!
Nice property to stay in for a family. Nice instruction booklet with information as well as lits of leaflets for activities to do around local area. Unfortunately the pub next door had gardening at 8am with strimmers and lawnmowers going. Overall the area is beautiful and can be quite despite being next to the main road. We enjoyed our stay :)
There were 4x couples staying in the Oast comprising me and my 3 cousins & partners. The Oast provided good accommodation for 8 people, has a good kitchen and is well stocked with plates, glasses etc for so many people+.
Newenden is well located for exploring Kent and the many attractions around the area.
Lovely house with rural outlook but yet convenient to main road and local amenities. Pub next door and cafe by the boating centre both provide excellent places to eat. Paddle boardingon the river proved a winner
We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely historic property. There are far ranging views from the Oast including the local steam railway in the distance.
We enjoyed the pizzas at the pub next door and the lovely log burner in the house amoungst other things.
The house is well equipped and the owner, Alan is very welcoming. Thanks Alan!
Thank you so much for such a smooth stay, a well guided tour to start and for even posting our items we forgot!
Will definitely be returning
The location is just outside of Tenterden and perfect for shopping. Next to a fantastic pub which is stumbling home distance.
Located next to pub and car park, no issues in January 2022 but possible in summer when pub garden busy. Accommodation fine unfortunately perhaps due to short turn around after the Christmas booking some bedding smelt âmustyâ and had to be washed and listed tumble drier was not present. Bath shower access in en suite needs care. Overall enjoyable stay in period building well located for visiting Kent and Sussex places of interest.
The whole experience exceeded expectations. Alan showed us around the property on arrival, and gave the best welcome I have ever had at a holiday cottage. The property itself is stunning, and spacious - the photos do not do it justice (most notably the second adult bedroom is much larger than it looks). The setting is idyllic and there is so much to do and explore in the area. We would not hesitate to return.
