An okay stay but would not go back.
The staff were very welcoming, and there had been some effort in upgrading the rooms. While the beds and bathroom were clean, the mattresses needed replacing, water pressure addressing (useless after 1 shower), and a deep clean to carpets, walls and lighting needed. There was mould, cobwebs and layers of dust.
Very friendly, comfortable, and clean. Recently refurbished
with up to date essentials but not loosing the 17th century feel. That is well preserved.Good size Showers and bath (not all rooms had a bath).
Many local customers relaxing and chatting, and friendly show its popularity and give it a lovely atmosphere of "the good old days".
Loved it.
The room was small
paint was peeling from the ceiling
Rattling windows
Noise from what could have been a fan all night
Very basic presentation of food
Not very comfortable beds
Needs a lot of love care and repair
Quaint and cosy village pub with real ale, garden and plenty of parking close to river and steam railway
warm welcoming staff and fabulous breakfast
We choose smal lroom with was comfy and adequate and modern rainfall shower
would stay here again for sure
This is an old pub on the main Rye rd. with lots of character & old world charm. Be sure to tho win the postcode as google maps took us to the wrong place when we typed in White Hart Cranbrook. Itâs actually in Newenden. Ellie at check in was adorable, she was super with anything we needed.
Room was fine we got a room with 2 twin beds. Nice bathroom. Dinner was absolutely delicious I had the seafood salad with new potatoes
Millie was just a delight helping us. Thank you Management for hiring lovely, polite & helpful young girls.
Breakfast was fabulous.
Check out is at 10⊠not thrilled about being so early but we just went down to breakfast at that time.
we could book in early the staff were extremely helpful and polite. The bedrooms were clean and an adequate size. Would totally recommend and would use again
We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely old inn. The ensuite bathroom was amazing for such an old place. Very modern, very clean with a good-sized and fully powered shower and a nice area set aside with a make-up mirror. The landlord was very friendly. A good location for walking in the countryside or visiting the many nearby homes and gardens. We'll stay there again.
Excellent place to stay - friendly welcome - very clean and comfortable room - good choice of food available and my choice was delicious - highly recommended
Very pleasant obliging staff . Always willing to help . Enjoyable lunch . Good menu. Heating , open fires hot water . Ideal location for our purpose . Canterbury , Rye , Hastings , Leeds Castle .
A fantastic overnight stay. Just perfect! Could not fault it! Lovely pub with roaring fire, friendly locals who made us feel welcome. Dinner was excellent as was breakfast. Our bedroom was full of charm and excellent value. We will return.
Not many âproperâ pubs left in the UK, this place was wonderful. The staff, the service, the food, the quirkiness of a really old building - I would definitely recommend it.
Venue very inviting had very pleasant staff
Room compact, no seating.
Mattresses on beds need renewing, very uncomfortable.
Mould in ensuite on ceiling and window.
Glass in window badly cracked so didn't look safe to open.
Shower power intermittent, had to wash soap off under dribble of water.
Disappointing for cost, felt very down market.
Breakfast was good nicely cooked and presented.
We were thoroughly welcomed on arrival by staff who could not have been more helpful. A lovely pub with rooms and a lovely roll top bath.
We didnât get to eat there as were at chapel down but the menu and food looked great.
