My daughter and I stayed the night before a baton competition. Breakfast was nice and early, served efficiently and very tasty. But the room was absolutely amazing. It felt more of a suit than a room. The bed was huge and comfy and we watched a movie on the sofa. Overall I would stay again. I got an excellent deal but the full price is very reasonable for the quality of the accommodation.

On arrival (8 hours drive) the receptionist greeted us with absolute disregard for people with disabilities or knowledge of legal rights of service dogs. I had included this into my booking and had confirmation that the hotel would support us. His words made my daughter withdraw as if she’d done something wrong. Not okay!!! Your team need D&I training.

The fittings in the room were tired and worn. The tea/coffee tray was kept in a cupboard but was warm. Needs to be on the side. Bed comfy room very clean

Beware. This hotel has issue with Soil pipes. Our room was unbearable in the bathroom and had to have the door closed. Unable to use the toilet because of the stench. Reported to hotel staff - who advised ‘Yes we know - the cleaner forgot to put a plug back somewhere’ ?!?!?? Was then advised an ‘Operations Manager’ would call to discuss - 5 days later still waiting……… despite me calling to chase. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Had a lovely one night stay here prior to visiting Dumfries House. Staff were lovely and food excellent. Only problem we had was the bathroom. The shower was over the bath which was very slippy and there was no mat and no grab rails to hold on to. As we are both getting older and have physical problems we felt very unsafe.

Visiting southern Scotland , this hotel met our expectations. An older hotel , its remodeling was quite stunning . The rooms / restaurant/ bar were all very inviting. I felt its price was appropriate and I give it a 3.5 star rating personally. It’s a bit off the beaten path but I’d recommend highly if your trip planning takes you in that direction.
