Title: Listing did not match reality — unsafe, would not recommend (1/5)I would not recommend staying at this property. I booked expecting the “Urban Luxe Retreat” shown in the listing, and the reality was a gross mischaracterization of what was advertised. There is nothing “luxe” about it. We checked out the same day we arrived. The property sits in a run-down area, with significant trash and debris around the home — nothing like the listing photos or description. More seriously, there was a strong odor in and around the house. Shortly after we entered, my elderly mother had an asthma attack and needed her inhaler. The conditions felt unsafe, and for her health we had no choice but to leave immediately and arrange other lodging.I notified the host right away through Vrbo messaging. He responded politely and offered to send cleaners back, but that wasn’t a workable solution once we’d already left for health reasons. I requested a full refund given that we couldn’t safely stay and the property was not as described — the host refused to provide any refund. The bigger issue is that the listing set an expectation the property simply did not meet. I’d urge future guests — especially anyone with respiratory sensitivities — to think carefully before booking, and to ask the host detailed questions about the home’s condition, odors, and the surrounding neighborhood first. This is not a Lux Location or an oasis.
