Overall we made this work for our family, but there were concerns that couldn’t be resolved during our stay. First, let me say that the communication of the owner was stellar, and that they’ve made many upgrades to an 80 year old property. What I list below was unexpected from the pictures not fun to deal with during our stay:
1. Too many plants in the house. Though plants are shown in the pictures there were almost twice as many as shown, including four large cactus. Having little children with us made the living room not only very challenging to gather in, but also a hazard. The plants took up so much space in the living room that we had a hard time gathering in there.
2. Cleanliness of the basement. The upstairs was clean and ready for living, but the downstairs appeared to be an afterthought, and didn’t appear cleaned. This was brought up to the owner over text, and I was assured this was an oversight by her cleaner and would be addressed.
3. No/thin curtains in several rooms. With the morning sun this time of year, unless you’re a morning person, getting a bright wake up call at 5:30 isn’t ideal, and there were no thick curtains or blinds in two of the rooms. In the downstairs bedroom, there wasn’t any coverings at all, raising privacy concerns.
4. No AC in one of the bedrooms. The house was advertised as such, but one of the rooms lacked its own AC unit, making nighttime sleep hard.
5. Downstairs shower. Very small, low water pressure, and no shelving for product.
