We booked a room at the Hotel Fort Des Moines specifically to be able to walk to the Hoyt Sherman for a concert. It was perfect! The room was welcoming - literally. When we walked in, the television greeted us with a personal message on the screen. Everything was impeccable and the parking garage was right across the street. Highly recommend!

I absolutely loved my two night stay at Hotel Fort Des Moines. The hotel itself was magnificent, my room was beautifully decorated and comfortable. I enjoyed the cafe several times and wished I would have been able to try the restaurant. All the staff I interacted with were so friendly, helpful and very professional. I will definitely be staying here again next time I’m in Des Moines.

Can’t say enough about the dining options on property. The café coffee is some of the best I’ve ever had. The mac & cheese there is to die for. And the daily happy hour at the upscale restaurant was also amazing. Staff was amazing and I certainly will never stay anywhere else in Iowa.

Historic hotel with friendly service in the Des Moines downtown district. Short walk to sculpture garden. River walk and Capitol with in 1.5 miles. Hotel is clean, well run and has some historic charm. Still a slightly upmarket bare bones place no flowers etc. Attached Hob Nobs restaurant has good coffee and a good ala cart menu. Good for omnivores and vegetarians may not vegan so much.
