The hotel was incredibly old. The room is very dim. There wasn’t a closet to put clothes in. It was pretty cold at night. The hotel has a lot of character. The bars seem really interesting. If I were in the mood, that would be a cool thing to do. The person at the desk was super nice and helpful. The café was cool. Croissant and coffee were decent. I would’ve liked to try their stuff they made in house. The bathroom was nice. Shower and sink and everything updated. It was well lit. The halls and the elevator just were a little bit old and it showed. Could be a little updated. For a place that calls itself four stars and costs over 200. I would’ve expected something a little nicer. Something where you could actually read in bed. It did the job and the location was where I needed. Would it be my first choice next time for sure not. But I didn’t leave bitter or angry. Just felt a little misled by how nice it would be. Older is fine and character is fine. But a room without a closet that was quite dark. Wasn’t what I was expecting or wanting. Maybe it was kinda like a three star hotel in Europe.

The room and hotel were very nice. What we didn’t care for was the lack of commodities. Everything you may need was an extra charge. You want a water, extra charge. You want breakfast, extra charge. You need parking, extra charge. There is no perks here, I get more for less staying at the Comfort Inn which is what we will do next time.

Parked across the street in parking structure, but if you need to go out more than one time, it's best to use the hotel valet parking.

Great room as always, comfortable and beautiful. Loved the overnight oats for breakfast and my latte at the lobby cafe. Pleasant and eye capturing details all around the hotel - all the signs, all the decor. We come back here every year. Love that everything is walking distance, and the best places are at the hotel - Chenin, Candy Bar. It’s the best hub for the ultimate Detroit experience.

The front desk staff was extremely unhelpful, particularly one female employee. We arrived at 3:15 p.m., and our room was not ready. She told us to wait and said she would inform us when the room became available. After waiting 15 minutes with no update, I returned to the front desk, and only then was I told, “Oh, it’s ready now.” She never followed through on notifying us as promised. Additionally, we were given no information whatsoever about the hotel. We were not informed about the coffee shop hours, the elevators, or any basic amenities. I had to ask where the elevator was, and only discovered the hotel has two elevators the following day. Although the room itself was clean, we were placed on the 11th floor, where noise from the city train was disruptive. The candy bar was mediocre, overpriced, and very small. We also discovered another small bar near the elevators only by accident when returning from dinner—again, something no staff member mentioned. What made this experience even more frustrating was witnessing another guest being checked in at the same time and receiving a full explanation of the hotel amenities, while I received none at all. Front desk staff clearly need better training in professionalism, communication, and basic customer service. Guests should not feel ignored or treated differently. This level of service is unacceptable for a hotel of this standard.

The room’s heat did not work. We went to bed thinking it was just slow to kick on. The room was 62 that night and woke to 54 degrees. We discovered the space heater in the cabinet in the morning. So the hotel KNOWS there is an issue in that room.
