"Shabby worn out rooms"

We booked a double but having entered room found two single beds side by side one higher than the other.Complained at reception were manager immediately upgraded our room which had two double beds in two rooms and a large 50"flat screen tv.Decor was shabby and dated.The "irish pub" which is said to be popular with locals was, but with students!Felt old and left!

Good hotel for the money

Just spwent last weekend there. The hotel is about 15 mins bus ride from the city centre, but don't worry you can get a bus right outside the hotel every 10 mins of so. They run upto 11:30pm then on the hour through the night. Very easy to get to from the airport by bus (get the 747 bus from the airport to O'connell Street, then change to the number 46a bus which will take you directly to the hotel). Rooms are clean and staff very helpful. Has wifi and all usual mod cons - recommended for a short stay.

not impressed with room

our room had a very fusty smell. discovered next morning that the low style bath and poorly fitted shower curtain caused the bathroom and bedroom carpet to both get partly wet.this has been an ongoing problem with this stupid system.the actual wooden bath panel was partly rotted.however i did report this as did the last hundreds of guests probably. NO Discount offered.Bet nothing done about this.

Good for UCD Patrons

Good if you need a cheap place near UCD, nothing around it sadly so make sure to go in to the city for meals or else you'll be stuck with the hotel's exorbitant fares. Otherwise, it was a fine hotel.

Good hotel for the price

Quality of room was fine and staff were friendly. It may be outside of the city centre but it's on the best serviced public transport route in the city so it's very accesible at all time, in that way it's one of the best kept secrets in Dublin hotels

Das Hotel ist sehr gut mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel erreichbar, Flughafenbus und andere bleiben vor dem Hotel stehen. Ca. 20 min. bis zur Innenstadt, 50 min. bis Flughafen. Parkplätze vorhanden. Sauberes und ordentliches Hotel. 24h Rezeption Im Dreibettzimmer gab es keinen Kasten, nur Kleiderhaken und Schreibtisch. Frühstück ist Geschmacksache. Sehr laut wegen Strasse bei offenem Fenster (Ohrenstöpsel helfen aber!) Ich würde das Hotel wieder besuchen und weiterempfehlen!

Handy for work at UCD but overpriced for what it is

The hotel boasts a restaurant and two bars which are quite pleasant; particularly given that the hotel is in fact in the middle of nowhere. Still, the rooms are not that great--furniture is dated, wallpaper is peeling off walls, the bathroom units are crooked, carpet and chairs are stained. The hotel accommodates large groups of sports people, who can be pretty noisy, whilst the walls are paper-thin. Internet connection even in communal areas comes at a ridiculously high price. Staff is very helpful and friendly though.

Dublins best secret and excellent location

I have been staying in the Montrose Hotel for over 25 years and have never had reason for complaint. The staff are all very professional and some of the staff are still there after 40 years...experienced and well trained

Ideal location

Went to Dublin for a Match in Croke Park. Ideal Location. Car Parking so Car was safe at no extra cost. Taxi to Croke Park only €15 Euro. Went into city after game and got a Taxi back out to hotel for €16. Excellent when you consider the price difference between hotels in the city and outside. Very Comfortable hotel, staff were very friendly. Rooms very clean. Tea making facility was a nice extra. Did'nt eat in hotel so I could not comment on food.. Overall would recemmend the hotel.

Hope your clean when you arrive

The hotel is typical of a 3 star except when it comes to having basic ammenities such as hot water. We made 4 complaints in relation to not having any hot water and although someone did come to the room the problem was never fixed. Excuses such as being busy are not acceptable. No offer of an alternative place to shower was given and neither was any offer of compensation or refund.

A very nice service

The hotel did a mistake and although I have selected a matrimonial bed they gave us a double bed. I did not take this to the hotel, we just pushed the beds together and it was fine but it is a small minus. Otherwise it was great, very clean, very nice and although it seems far from the city center, by foot it takes one and a half hours to get there we found it interesting to discover Dublin life by walking around (the important areas are not so far appart)
