It was a great vacation place for our family. We had 8 adults and 3 smaller children and there were plenty of beds and a huge dining table to fit is all. The view of the water and backyard was wonderful.Like any home, there were a few technical issues, but the owners were quick to respond to questions and we worked around most of them.
We stayed at the VRBO the beginning of August. There were three adults and seven children. Sleeping arrangements worked out well. When you pull up- you do wonder what the inside will be like- and there is a little apartment attached to the building where there other people living- we saw them many times sitting in their vehicles- but no interactions and they were quiet. The swimming area is across the highway- we drove over and the kids swam- enjoyed the park area. The bar/restaurant next door had great food. The bar/restaurant was very busy each night- but we had no complaints about it. Inside the VRBO, it was quiet. We had a fire down by the little inlet. The VRBO worked for how our vacation went- as we needed a place to sleep and make suppers. Otherwise, we were out exploring Duluth and the North Shore.
Our family had a wonderful trip staying at this large lakeside cabin. We had 7 kids and 4 adults in our group, and we had plenty of room to spread out. It was a quick trip to get to the beach and close enough for us to enjoy all the destinations we had planned. Yes, this is next to a bar, but this didnât bother our family. It wasnât too busy when we were there, plus we were able to enjoy the delicious pizza! Darren, the host, was wonderful to work with! Communication was great! In all, we had a wonderful stay!
Was the perfect family vacation and so peaceful. Plenty of room and was home away from home. The bar has excellent food and the staff were awesome. Highly recommended
The location was nice, I loved the little slope down to the pond, it was very cozy there. There is a bar right next door that added a little flare, like a little getaway from our getaway. :) The house was very spacious and accommodating and is perfect for big family or group retreats. The only downfalls were that the water pressure is low if more then one person is taking a shower at a time and the house has 3 available showers so itâs better to communicate to one another on who's going to take the next shower. The house is not very sound proof either, you can hear everything going on downstairs and in the neighboring rooms on the top floor. However, the house was very clean, comfy and many wonderful amenities were provided. Darren was a very great host as well and I would definitely return to this location!
The cabin easily accommodated eight of us for a long weekend. It is in a nice spot in a wooded area, just around the corner from a nice lake and a public park and beach. Easy drive to Duluth and a full service bar/restaurant right next door. The cabin has all the comforts of home. Relaxing and spacious venue for a group that size. I would recommend.
We enjoyed the time we spent here. It was very cozy. Although it was across the parking lot of the local bar and eatery, it was very quiet at night. The shower in the downstairs bathroom was not handicap accessible, which was disappointing. The bedroom downstairs was very small and not efficient for someone wearing a prosthetic leg.
Overall, we were able to adapt to the space and enjoyed ourselves. Thank you for opening your home to us. We would definitely stay again if we choose Duluth for our reunion.
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. There were 13 of us (7 adults and 6 kids) ranging in ages 5 to 68.
We were a little concerned about some of the negative reviews we read before we got there, but didn't find anything that prevented us from having a great time!
The property was what we needed. As other reviews mention, it is RIGHT next to the bar but we really didnât notice noise or anything negative about that. It wouldnât be a first choice for a family who wants a secluded location but it was great for what we needed.
The house had everything we needed and warmly decorated. The kitchen is well stocked with good appliances. The living area was comfortable and bright. The swimming area was clean and never crowded but not convenient as you needed to cross two blacktop roads to get to it.
Overall, the trip was amazing. We really had a lot of fun! The only thing would have been if we were closer, and not so tucked into the corner by the lake.
Other than that, much fun was had by all!
Duplex located in busy bar parking lot next to a loud busy road, on a cove not the actual lakeshore
Listing says itâs a private lakeside home, but itâs a duplex next to a busy bar/restaurant. Main entrance literally steps from busy parking lot w/ bar traffic & a busy 2-lane road (45-55 mph) with constant noise. It was so loud in bedrooms we got box fans to try to drown out road noise (no match for loud dump trucks & ATVâs speeding by). The âlakefrontâ is actually a small cove off a channel that connects to the lake & is busy w/ bar patron boats (we came home some evenings with no place to dock our boat). The swimming beach advertised as across the street: you have to climb over a metal guardrail, walk across a busy road at a curve & then traverse down a steep unmarked dirt path covered in roots. Bedrooms have only sheer window panels that block no sound or light. Direct a.m. sun in windows facing the road, lights from parking lot shine in side windows at night. The kitchen is outdated, small & sparsely stocked; there were literally 4 spoons total for a home that is advertised to sleep up to 14. This may be a good spot for a guys fishing/snowmobiling trip but definitely NOT ideal for a family vacation w/ 5 kids under 12. We felt duped by the listingâs approximate location (shows the house as located across the road on the lake). SO disappointed but we had zero options to change at the last minute during a holiday week. Booked/paid in full a year in advance & didnât have many reviews to warn us that this isnât a quiet lakeside retreat appropriate for families/kids.
This is nice inside but there were several âsurprisesâ we didnât expect based on the listing. We did not realize that this is a two unit property until we pulled up. There was another car parked there so we were never sure if there was someone there. Also there was someone staying in a tent that we âthinkâ was on the same property. There were doors that we werenât sure led to the other unit, but there was not curtain on one which was super uncomfortable. When it said that there was a bar/restaurant next door we didnât think weâd share a parking lot (literally drive through to get to the property). It felt uncomfortable, no privacy and felt unsafe for our kids to be outside w/out an adult. The listing says lakefront & technically it is but itâs more of a cove/pond feel & there are constantly boats coming in to refuel at the dock next to the fire pit (which incidentally is on a staggered, sloped space and not directly next to the water). A grill was advertised & it was disgusting: rusted out, burrs on the grate & super dirty-could not use it! . Indoors the window facing the water was cracked/broken. A few of the beds were extremely uncomfortable, squeaky (just seemed old). The stairs squeaked loudly. One tv didnât work & a couple of the remotes did not have working batteries. We appreciated having a place to stay & the main living area was pretty, the deer were fun to watch and the bar pizza is great. I would say good rental/not for families though. Not worth what we paid
