Serious problem on phone when trying to enter the building due to the lady on line unable to explane that the room key and front door keys were in the lock box.
I discussed this with the manager the following day and he accepted that the lady did have problems in explaining things.
Note that anyone arriving without an operating telephone would not be able to get the code for the lock box!!!
The stay was acceptable for one night. Itâs an older home and has that older home musty smell. Our room was stuffy, no AC and we woke up hot very often. However, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast good. Service was friendly.
This was better on the inside than it looked outside.
We arrived in the rain and were surprised at no staff on site. You need your mobile phone to call for the key box code and to be told which key to take.
Outside looked a bit shabby but inside was ok. Original art deco interior was interesting. Room was clean but needs better curtain rail. Tea coffee and bottle of water. Quiet.
Breakfast was good. Personal service cooked to order after buffet cereal etc.
Good value as we were just staying a night on the way to Belfast.
The property needs a bit of TLC on the outside of the windows. I am not a fan of nobody on site, although the information given to gain access works seamlessly.
My room was comfortable especially the bed. The bathroom needed a deeper clean around the shower.
Breakfast in the morning was delicious and a lovely choice.
Would I go back ???
Yes, this place was clean and the rooms well presented. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Although this guest house is on a busy road, it was so quiet.
Highly recommended.
Quite a noisy room with noise from other guests rooms and the road (seemed to be a main road into town).
No reception on site but easy instructions received by phone on arrival.
No communal seating area inside or out ( shame given the large, sunny backyard.
Amazing water pressure in the shower.
Easy to sign in if no one there. First class service, especially in our circumstances for a family bereavement. No fuss. Excellent parking facilities. Breakfast was very good indeed. Would recommend whether holiday, business, or pleasure.
Stayed for two nights, travel lodge it isn't. Quite quaint in an oldie worldy way. A bit threadbare in places. Don't expect the personal touch on booking in as there no-one there to greet you. You have to phone them to get a cade for key box then let yourselves in. Ist cooked full breakfast was dreadful. Not very warm, bacon was a dried up, and hard, two sausages were black and overcooked. The second day the cooked breakfast was well presented and delicious.
Can't comment on check-in staff as there wasn't any, need to call a number to check yourself in.
Bathroom was clean and modern, the room however needs a major refresh and upgrade. Carpet was very dusty and we had lingering pet/dust allergy symptoms.
Breakfast chef was very nice and welcoming and made your breakfast to order.
I thought the breakfast options were the most flexible that i experienced when it comes to traditional Scottish fair.
Also, since we were there during beautiful weather, the varieties of birds out our window was an exceptional and unexpected feature
The property looks amazing from the outside. There was a telephone check in
Im not a fan of that. I had a down stairs room right beside the entrance door. You can hear everyone talking in the hall plus enter and leaving. It was old fashioned inside but very comfortable.
