Clean and comfortable. I really appreciated the number of power points in the room: I could charge phone and hearing aids at the same time as boiling the kettle for a cuppa. Lovely hot water in the shower. I've stayed here before and certainly reccomm4end the Leviathan to anyone wanting value for money without the frills.
Nothing really stood out, the bed was comfortable, I slept, I left. The hot water on the shower was a bit finickety - which may indicate that it shares the same source as another bathroom.
Yes we were more than happy with our Leviathan visit. It is one of dunedin's earliest hotels and still has many of the original features but for those who appreciate yesterdays craftsmanship it has real appeal.
The room was ok, nothing fancy and it did not have air conditioning as listed. The outlets are all on one wall away from the beds so you need a long extension cord of you have to plug anything in you need by the bed.
Two of the receptionists that we met talked to us while looking at their computers, no welcome smile, no have a nice day, no thank you for staying here.
Overall it is a cool place to stay, but it would be a lot nicer if it was maintained.
The windows were cracked and thin, mouldy.
The bath tub jets do not work - nor the power in the bathroom. The carpet is so old and worn out that itâs lifted up leaving a trip hazard in the room. It was also quite dusty.
A little TLC and it would be worth the price.
Enjoyed: the beautiful architecture of the building and convenience to central Dunedin
Could be better: was quite cold, wouldâve like more provisions to keep me warm during stay. Also, would have preferred if housekeeping replenished the soap etc. during room service
