Quiet peaceful location with stunning water views. You must have an suv / high center vehicle however as the roads to property are very primitive, steep and narrow. We really enjoyed our stay.
My wife and I and our son and wife had five wonderful days on Orcas Island. This charming cabin has such gorgeous views throughout the house and from the back deck. Itâs a bit rustic which for us was perfect and added to its charm. The younger half of our group went in the 55 degree water a few times but even walking out on the rocky bluff below the cabin offers plenty of great areas to sit and enjoy the waves rolling in and boats going by in Eastsound. We had a deer visitor a couple of days coming all the way up under the deck, for a good vegetation meal. We agree with the reviewers who recommended to stay on White Beach Road-which turns into Evergreen Way and makes a sharp right turn down by White Beach and climbs back up to the driveway to the cabin. Also coming south from Eastsound (lovely village with the main grocery store and nice restaurants and stores), itâs better to stay on Orcas Road all the way and go by Orcas Landing on the way to the cabin. These alternatives give you much more comfortable rides with less bumps and turns. Other recommendations: Deer Harbor Charters for whale watching out of Deer Harbor, hike Ship Peak Loop at Turtleback Mountain Preserve in Westsound for fantastic views, Brown Bear Bakery and New Leaf Cafe in Eastsound for great meals and snacks, and views from the top of Mount Constitution and kayaking on Mountain Lake nearby in Moran State Park. All so beautiful.
The water knob on gust shower broke and we didn't received a reply until the evening and told us that they couldn't send anybody until they find a plumber.
.( 6) adults shower on the main bathroom until we fixed the other one temporarily.
Not enough pressure in main shower..
Horrible pillows.
Very uncomfortable beds ( woke up with backaches).
Dirty Window.
No additional trash bags.
Hated to see a deer head on the wall.
Hated to see personal pictures all over the walls ( very add and creepy).
Onlything we liked was the view..

Stayed here for a few days during a stay on Orcas with some old friends from college. We absolutely loved the spot and canât recommend it highly enough. Remote in the best possible way. Lovely accommodations, great view. We saw a seal and otters right in the backyard!
If youâre looking for a place to get away from everything then this is the spot! Wake up and have your coffee overlooking an amazing view and hoping to see whales migrating through.
Home was perfect for our friends and family and gave us ample room to enjoy each other and solitude.
You have your choice of two private beaches to go and experience a true cold plunge!
I would definitely recommend this home to anyone that wants to get away from the hustle and bustle to reconnect with nature, family, and self.
Amazing Spot (once you get there), Very dated home
This is a tough one...the location of the home is right on the water which is absolutely stunning. Our kids loved visiting the beach on the property, watching the bald eagles flying along the water and seeing seals and otters swim by. That said, the house is extremely remote and it's a hike down a long and twisty dirt road to get there. Vacasa will send you a liability message stating that you need a 4WD vehicle to access the property with very good reason, but only after you've made your reservation. There is a section of road that is extremely steep and you will not be able to get out of the driveway if you do not have 4WD or are a very skilled off-road driver. As for the house, absolutely zero effort has been made to make the interior of the house inviting and comfortable. There is religious iconography all over the place, the owner's family photos are everywhere, and the basement (accessible only for laundry) is untidy and just plain scary. My young children thought the house was creepy and my wife did not feel safe staying there alone. Not a judgement by any means, but it made us appreciate the measures taken by most other rental properties to make it feel like you are not intruding on someone else's home. Very nice of the owners to share this incredible spot with others, but an extremely disappointing rental experience overall.
Felt like we were staying in a home of one of our own relatives and everything made us feel as if we were part of their family. Wonderful seclusion with wildlife and sea life popping in for a visit every day. Beautiful sunrises and sipping coffee on the deck watching the waves made the days go by too fast and we would stay longer if we could. Thanks to the owner for providing this wonderful property!
This was a great property to rent for the week. Getting to the house did involve driving down a fairly rough dirt road- but my rental sedan was more than capable of navigating the road.
(Google Maps really wants to send you down Dolphin Bay Road- unless a ferry is arriving Orcas Rd is a much better option.)
House looked like the pictures. You may want to bring some extra bit of firewood - several places in Eastsound sold it.
It was a bit of an adventure getting to our VRBO due to some issues with blocked roads but Luke, our Vacasa rep, was super responsive and helpful and sent us our childâs forgotten electronic device to boot.
The house took some getting used to because it is what I think of as old school VRBO, where it feels like youâve walked into someone elseâs home. We were more worried about the safety of the artifacts than anything. But as we stayed longer we got used to it. There are *lots* of Christian references if thatâs something that would bother you.
On the plus side, the view is one of the best weâve ever had on Orcas and even though the house is very remote and far away from Moran, it wasnât too long a trek to get to our favorite hikes. The couches and recliners were very comfy and we all had someplace to stretch out and relax. There had been a slide so getting to the beach proper was more exciting than it once was but it was totally doable and still far easier than a house we used to stay at on Orcasâour kids managed well with a bit of support.
We might prefer to stay a bit closer to Moran another year but by the end of the trip we all agreed that we could see ourselves returning to this house.
Sometimes the pictures are better than reality. This was even better than the pictures! Truly beautiful view from every window. The deck was amazing. An orca pod swam by. There were seals and otters at the beach every single day. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you so much!
