The Old Ground Hotel for service and comfort.

The staff at The Old Ground Hotel were simply amazing. The most wonderful hospitality was granted to us and it stands out in my experience across any hotel I’ve stayed in, in a long time. In fact I picked The Old Ground as I had stayed here for a family reunion exactly ten years ago. We arrived late and then could not drive through Ennis due to diversions. The desk staff not only guided us in through the town to their car park in real time, but managed to get us a very last minute and late evening table for 4 in their bistro, accommodating a tired and hungry family who were making a pit stop before flying from SNN the next am. The team made check in easy. Made sure we got all we needed at dinner including off menu options and then made sure we got checked in and up to our rooms. Similarly the next morning, a delicious breakfast, warm greetings and wonderful service! Outstanding staff and experience. We can’t stop talking about it. Thank you.

Based on reviews, and compared to other properties on our trip, I expected a bit more. There was no help with bags at reception and no elevator to help manage suitcases, so we had to navigate some steep stairs. Dinner was delicious but breakfast was just ok. Service staff was hit or miss with some very delightful people and others that were almost dismissive. The bathroom shower was downright hazardous as it required standing in a slippery bathtub - there was a runner mat but it slid around and was worse than nothing.
