Good location. Was offered a free drink instead of housekeeping but then despite giving my voucher to the bar and saying I wanted to claim the drink, I was charged £7.50. The room was ok but the bathroom smelt like a urinal and was really unpleasant. Not the standard I’d expect for this chain.

I’ve never been in a hotel where all of the staff are consistently polite, friendly, helpful, happy and amazingly genuine ! There’s clearly an incredible ethos here of top class customer service. I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel to anyone. The rooms are amazing and the food was stunning.

I recently stayed at the Hotel du Vin in Exeter and was drawn to the hotel’s charming blend of historic architecture and modern boutique style. The location is excellent—just a short walk from Exeter Cathedral and the quayside—making it very convenient for exploring the city. The room itself was stylish and comfortable, with a unique character that sets it apart from more generic hotels. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the attention to design detail gave the space a luxury feel. The staff were polite and helpful throughout my stay. However, I was disappointed by the lack of electric vehicle (EV) charging options on-site. As someone who travels with an EV, it was inconvenient to find no facilities available, especially given the increasing importance of sustainable travel and the hotel’s otherwise modern amenities. I had to search for charging points off-site, which was time-consuming and detracted from the experience. For a hotel of this calibre, I expected better provision for eco-conscious guests. The Bistro du Vin offered a delicious meal in a relaxed atmosphere, and I appreciated the outdoor pool and library spaces as lovely touches. But the EV issue left a sour note, and I would hesitate to return unless improvements are made in this area. Pros: • Beautiful, characterful rooms • Great central location • Lovely dining and leisure facilities Cons: • No on-site EV charging • Limited parking • Some rooms may feel dark due to design Would I recommend? Poor for money plus £20 a day to park

Room was very dusty 104 internal glass dividers had hand and greasy marks on it inside bathroom window cill dusty, room 103 has a faulty door closer so door slams and shakes our room being woken at all hours. Unable to contact the Spa before trip to book treatments, they also did not return voice messages and on arrival tried to book for my wife and without even checking just said no for the next 4 days

The hotel itself is an interesting and attractive building. The outdoor area at the back was very nice and peaceful with a beautiful white Wisteria. The staff at reception and the restaurant were very helpful, friendly and considerate. The location was convenient for us to explore the local area. We had a very lovely weekend

Bit disappointed

Not quite as nice as I was expecting. Room was a bit tired. I was also bitten by something in the night. I shared this with reception and did get an email to say they took such things very seriously, had experts that looked at such things and would be in touch, but I never heard from them again. Also the pool was closed but this wasn’t made clear before arrival.
