Simply perfect! From the location to the house itself, could not have asked for more! The river was so relaxing and the hike along the river path was great. Host was fantastic to deal with and very accommodating. Highly recommended!
My husband and I spent two nights here on our anniversary trip. The cabin is lovely, with amazing views, as well as having hiking trails right on the property. We were quite comfortable, and John was a perfect host who communicated well, gave great directions, and answered our questions quickly. We enjoyed our stay very much and highly recommend this cabin when you want to get away to a very quiet, peaceful, comfortable location.
The cabin is so new and located by the beautiful Rockfish River. The Sounds of Nature and the babbling River added to the experience as we sat in the deck morning and evening. Great walking trail along the River. Easy to get to local breweries, ciders and wineries.
This was an amazing little escape from âlifeâ. The house was exactly as it was described. Our favorite spot was on the deck listening to the river flow. Additionally, watching the bald eagle glide right by us as it navigated the river for food! The house is an easy 20 mins drive to Charlottesvilleâs and less to wineries and breweries. If youâre looking to enjoy Charlottesville while also soaking up some peace and relaxation, this is your place! It was a perfect stay!
Well designed modern cabin on the Rockfish River south of CVille. Plenty of space to amble around with a small beach where you could launch kayaks (provided) or do some fishing.Had great time even though it was a little rainy.
Wow! Upon pulling up we were amazed with the location but as soon as we entered the front door, it was absolutely stunning! The cabin itself is SO CLEAN!!! We enjoyed sitting out on the large deck enjoying the view. There is a walking path that is cleared that we enjoyed as well! The host John was wonderful and we will definitely be back!! If I could give more STARS I would!
We had a great stay in this beautiful cabin. Floor-to-ceiling windows, extremely clean, charming in every way. Secluded and peaceful. Would love to return!
We chose this property for a girls getaway, and it was exactly what we were looking for. The views were gorgeous even in January! It was easy to see the river from all bedrooms and the living and kitchen areas through big floor to ceiling windows.
Our family spent the weekend here while visiting the area, and it was just perfect. It is in the woods off the beaten track, but only minutes to civilization and all the amenities. Only 25 minutes to Monticello, and lots of antiques and shops within 20 minutes. The beds were very comfortable, and it has modern amenities like a great stove and bathroom heaters. And that back deck with the peaceful breeze over gurgling beneath it was heaven! We would definitely stay here again!
Upon driving into the forest on the way to the cabin we knew it would be special. Open airy feel of this spectacular cabin made us feel we were completely alone in the forest. The sound of the water, beautiful hiking paths, and the stunning cabin have made this a place we will return.
Beautiful, charming, secluded cabin in the woods! We loved our stay here so much. The sound of the river was so relaxing. We enjoyed exploring by the river through the wooded path.
My girl and I had searched for a cabin like this for a year, maybe two. We both grew up in the northern mid-west and spent summer vacations in remote family cabins on the water, in a time when nothing was spoiled by heavy human presence. John's 'cabin' has the exact remote north woods feel we remember as kids, starting with a drive winding up and down through the forest ending a couple miles in with a cabin that far exceeded our childhood lodging. The pictures do not do the place justice! The main room and flanking bedrooms have floor to ceiling windows and doors that lead out onto the full length deck, elevated above the river 20 - 30 feet away. VERY well laid out. The view is spectacular, especially when watching bald eagles and ospreys on their tours up and down the river. Kayaks are staged along the river every hundred yards maybe - we used those and the tubes we brought every day. The next closest cabin is a hundred or more yards away, but you don't see it from the grass path along the river. That's rare, and is in our top three criteria (cabin that fits the surroundings, water, and privacy). Even better - no mosquitos! That made outdoor time all the more enjoyable.
Great location: sleeping with a window open to hear the sound of the river water going across the rocks, kayaking in your front yard to visiting orchards, vineyards and just great scenes all around. I recommend this place!. Very secluded.
We booked this home as a last minute get away and were so glad we did! The home is brand new and tastefully decorated. The view off the expansive deck was the best part of our stay. We loved listening to the wildlife and flowing river below. To access the river, we followed the groomed trail to the right - an easy and scenic walk but wear old shoes if itâs been raining. The cabin is located near many wineries and distilleries. We hope to visit again soon!
Wonderful house in a special location! The property was even more beautiful than I imagined with the design of the house thoughtfully architected to take every advantage of the gorgeous property. As others have mentioned the house is spotless, comfortable with a roomy kitchen for prepping meals. Thoroughly enjoyed listening to the river and wildlife on the deck and walking through the forest along the paths. This property is real gem and John was a wonderful host.
