The view and good was amazing! The hotel is what you would think a hotel would be for its age (over 100 yrs old).

We enjoyed this historic hotel with beautiful views. The only issue was a strong mildew smell in our room.

Old Tired Hotel

What a disappointment. This is a very tired hotel with a very expensive dining menu, old tired rooms with uneven floors, not-great housekeeping service (we had crumbs from a previous guest covered with ants), too-low toilets, no in-room coffee makers or other perks you might expect today. Just so sad that this old hotel has seen better days. I wish I could say there were good things to recommend it, but I can’t think of any. We were going to stay a week but left after two days.

Liked hot tub, pool, games, vending machine, food and drinks, view. Room was nice bed, great blackout curtains. TV was small and some channels didn’t come in clearly TCM, bathroom toilet not clean and rug not fully vacuumed and carpet shredded with something sharp, no hooks for towels or suits to hang after shower. No mini fridge for leftovers in room.

I chose this hotel at the last minute, extending a work trip into a quick vacation. I am so glad we did! It's so much more than just a place to sleep for the night. The property was beautiful and the building itself was so interesting. I really appreciated the way the hotel has modern accommodations, while still maintaining many charming characteristics that make you feel as if you've stepped back in time. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner on the Veranda and breakfast the next morning in the dining room. Both meals were excellent! The staff was very friendly and someone was always at the front desk for any questions. It was a wonderful experience. If you are a fan of historical TV shows and wish to immerse yourself in one, you should stay here!

Perfect for a weekend getaway.

Though the rooms are on the smaller side, the hotel was extremely spacious, allowing my husband and I to always find a quiet corner or window seat to our selves. The staff was old time friendly, happy to serve or engage in friendly conversation. There is plenty to do on site during any season of the year. And the location allowed for endless options to eat out, hike or explore.

It is almost 12am and we can here doors slam, and people talking. After check in, we are aware there is a wedding going on, but the talking between rooms is terrible for us and our two children. We have stayed here before, after tonight, im not sure if we'll ever stay here again. It's just so disrespectful the talking we can clearly hear. We keep thinking the voices we hear will fade away, but they will not. I even stuck my head out because it sounds like they are right outside of our room. We are so upset we spent almost $300 for a terrible stay like this. We also had terrible temperature water during our showeres. It would scald or freeze us. Seriously a terrible experience.

Hotel Restaurant

Everything was wonderful except for our dinner in the hotel restaurant. There was some weird wire in my salad and the waiter didn't offer to take it off my bill, just asked if I wanted another salad? Basically ruined the whole meal. And the food was marginal at best. I expected much better from this hotel.

The building is impressive from the outside and has a massive fireplace and plenty of seating in the indoor reception area. However, the rooms are dated with worn carpets. The walls show signs of peeling paint and cracks. We were very disappointed in the condition of the rooms and lack amenities. It’s more a cabin in the woods than a well maintained resort. Disappointed
